Amaç: Bu çalışma, dahili ve cerrahi kliniklerde çalışan hemşirelerin aydınlatılmış onama yönelik görüş ve uygulamalarını belirlemek amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak yapılmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Çalışma, Nisan 2018 tarihinde bir üniversite hastanesinin erişkin dahili ve cerrahi kliniklerinde çalışan 88 hemşireyle yürütülmüştür. Verilerin toplanmasında araştırmacılar tarafından literatürden yararlanılarak hazırlanan 41 soruluk veri toplama formu kullanılmış, veriler SPSS 12.0 programı kullanılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Bulgular: Çalışmaya katılan hemşirelerin %89,8'i kadın ve lisans mezunudur. Hemşirelerin çalışma süresi ortalama 12,4 (±6,7) yıldır. Hemşirelerin %52,3'ü, aydınlatılmış onamı doktorun alması gerektiği, %36,4'sinin sağlık personelinin yasal anlamda korunması için alınması gerektiği, %54,5'i onam alma sürecinde hemşirenin kısmen sorumluluğu olduğu görüşündeler. Hemşirelerin %89,8'inin hemşirelik girişimleri için hastalarını bilgilendirdikleri, %60,0'ının sözel onam aldıkları belirlenmiştir. Hemşirelerin, hemşirelik girişimleri ile ilgili hastalarından onam alma süreçlerinde güçlük yaşadıkları (%67,0), onam alma süreçlerinde yaşanan güçlüklerin; iş yükünün fazla olmasından, hastanın algılamasına ilişkin faktörlerden ve bu konuyla ilgili prosedürün eksikliğinden kaynaklandığı belirlenmiştir. Sonuç: Hemşireler, aydınlatılmış onam sürecinde kısmen sorumluluklarının olduğu görüşündeler. Hemşirelerin, aydınlatılmış onamda rolleri çerçevesinde eksik ve/veya yanlış uygulamalar yaptıkları; hemşirelik girişimleri öncesi hastalarını bilgilendirdikleri ve sözel onam aldıkları belirlenmiş; eğitimlerin artırılması, politika ve prosedürlerin oluşturul- masının problemlerin çözümlenmesine katkısı olacağı düşünülmüştür.
