Objective: Forward lunge is a widely used exercise to improve lower extremity strength due to its easy applicability and reliability at different heights. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between knee angulations and strength in forward lunge exercises performed at different heights. Material and Methods: Seven healthy active men (age=20.42±1.27 years, height=1.75±3.82 m, weight 66.6±6.73 kg, body fat percentage 8.47±4.49, body mass index 20.62±1.76, and sports experience 10.28±3.35 years) who were studying at the faculty of sports sciences and had been practicing sports for at least 3 years voluntarily participated in the study. The forward lunge step exercise was performed by taking 3 right and 3 left steps at heights of 0 cm, 10 cm and 20 cm. Kinovea was used to determine the knee angles of the participants and a force platform was used to determine the ground reaction force values. The relationship between knee angles and maximum force data in the eccentric and concentric phases of the forward lunge step exercise was evaluated by Spearman correlation. Results: In the data obtained, a significant correlation was observed in the eccentric and concentric phase of the exercise performed from a height of 20 cm in the right foot. In the left foot, a significant correlation was observed in the concentric phase on flat ground (p<0.05). At all heights (0 cm, 10 cm, 20 cm), ground reaction forces in the eccentric phase were higher than in the concentric phase. Conclusion: The results of the study showed that ground reaction forces increased as the height increased and ground reaction forces decreased as the height decreased. For this reason, it can be recommended to increase the load gradually in forward lunge step exercise applications as forward lunge step falls from a height of 0 cm, 10 cm and 20 cm, respectively.
