Verilerin toplanmasında; Kişisel Bilgi Formu, Pittsburgh Uyku Kalitesi İndeksi (PUKİ) ve Hastalığa Psikososyal Uyum-Öz Bildirim Ölçeği [Psychosocial Adjustment to Illness-Self-Report Scale (PAIS-SR)]; verilerin değerlendirilmesinde sayı, ortalama, yüzdelik dağılımlar, standart sapma, Cronbach alfa katsayısı, Pearson korelasyon analizi ve Simple Linear Regresyon analizi kullanıldı.

ABSTRACT
Objective: The study was conducted to determine the effect of sleep quality on psychosocial adjustment in patients diagnosed with heart failure. Material and Methods: The population of this descriptive research consists of 209 patients diagnosed with heart failure in a hospital in the Eastern Anatolia Region between April-November 2021. The study was completed with 172 voluntary patients who met the research criteria. Personal Information Form, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and Illness Psychosocial Adjustment Self-Report Scale were used for data collection, while number, mean, percentage distributions, standard deviation, Cronbach's alpha coefficient, Pearson correlation analysis, and Simple Linear Regression analysis were used for data evaluation. Results: According to the research findings, based on the PSQI, the patients' sleep quality was poor (12.80±3.86). The PSQI subscale most affected was sleep latency (2.48±0.68), while the least affected subscale was sleep medication usage (0.40±0.88). According to the Psychosocial Adjustment to Illness Scale-Self Report (PAIS-SR), the patients' psychosocial adjustment was poor (67.09±24.70). The PAIS-SR subscale most affected was social environment (12.75±5.66), and the least affected subscale was extended family relationships (5.69±3.85). When the relationship between PAISSR and PSQI total mean scores was examined, it was determined that there was a positive significant relationship between all sub-dimensions of the scales and total mean scores (p<0.05). In the regression analysis between the PSQI total score of the participants and the PAIS-SR subdimensions and the mean scores of the scale, it was determined that the PSQI total score had an effect on their professional adaptation by 63.6%. Conclusion: Sleep quality and psychosocial adjustment of the patients were found to be at a poor level. Sleep quality of patients with heart failure was found to affect their psychosocial adjustment.
