Bulgular: Hemşireler, ortalama 30,10±6,68 yaşlarında, %82,9'u kadın, %69,4'ü lisans mezunu ve %85'i klinik hemşiresi pozisyonunda çalışmaktadır. %66,8'i hemşireliği isteyerek seçtiğini, %73,6'sı hemşireliği sevdiğini, %54,6'sı hemşireliğe bağlı olduğunu belirtirken, %71,5'i hemşirelik mesleğini değiştirmek istediğini bildirmiştir.

ABSTRACT
Objective: To define the relationship between nurses' ethical attitudes towards care, their personality traits and burnout levels. Material and Methods: This descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted with 193 nurses. The data were collected by using ''Ethical Attitude Scale in Nursing Care'', ''Maslach Burnout Scale'' and ''Ten-Item Personality Scale'' and were analyzed using Pearson correlation test, independent sample t-test, Kruskal-Wallis H and Mann Whitney-U test. Ethical approval and permission of institution were obtained to conduct the study. Results: Nurses are on average 30.10±6.68 years old, 82.9% are women, 69.4% have a bachelor's degree and 85% work as clinic nurses. 66.8% stated that they chose nursing willingly, 73.6% liked nursing, 54.6% were committed to nursing, and 71.5% wanted to change the nursing profession. The total score of nurses' ethical attitudes towards care is 148.18±12.95. The emotional exhaustion, personal accomplishment score and depersonalization subscale score of Maslach Burnout Scale are 19.15±6.95, 11.13±3.63, and 6.14±3.36, respectively. The agreeableness, extraversion, emotional stability, responsibility and openness to experience subscale score of the personality scale are 3.03±0.64, 3.01±0.54, 2.75±0.62, 2.58±0.43 and 2.21±0.62, respectively. There is a weak and significant negative relationship between nurses' ethical attitudes and the emotional exhaustion (r=-0.248), depersonalization (r=-0.263) and personal accomplishment (r=-0.250) dimensions of the burnout scale (p<0.05). There is no statistically significant relationship between nurses' ethical attitudes and personality traits (p>0.05). Conclusion: It was observed that nurses had high ethical attitudes, moderate emotional exhaustion, and more easy-going and extroverted personalities. While nurses' ethical attitude levels increased, their burnout levels decreased. However, personality characteristics of nurses did not affect their ethical attitudes. It may be recommended that managers in institutions providing health care services identify the situations that cause nurses to experience burnout and plan constructive initiatives to prevent them.
