Objective: The aim of this study was to retrospectively evaluate the presence of impacted deciduous molars and various radiographic factors affecting them on panoramic radiographs of a group of pediatric patients. Material and Methods: 13,648 panoramic radiographs meeting the study criteria taken between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2023 were examined for the presence of impacted primary molars. Impacted primary molars were classified as primary and secondary. Age, gender, location of the impacted primary molar and the presence of the permanent tooth were recorded. Z and t tests were used in statistical analyses. Results: The average age of men and women is 8.14 and 7.0 years, respectively (p=0.158). A total of 32 impacted primary molars were detected in 25 patients (0.18%). 13 impacted primary molars were identified in 11 patients in females, and 19 impacted primary molars in 14 patients in males (p=0.127). The number of primary impacted molars is 7, and secondary is 25 (p=0.0001). The distribution of impacted primary molars in the lower and upper jaws is 22 and 10, respectively (p=0.001). The number of impacted primary molars detected on the right side of the jaw is 15, and 17 on the left side (p=0.616). There is no permanent tooth germ under three of the impacted primary molars. Conclusion: In this study, the prevalence of impacted primary molars in the population of the Central Black Sea Region was found to be 0.18%. The number of secondary impacted primary teeth is considerably higher than the number of primary impacted primary teeth. Impaction in primary teeth is not affected by age and gender.
