Objective: Violence against health professionals is defined as a widespread and worrisome phenomenon in the world and is considered to be an important public health problem. Therefore, the aim of this study is to determine the views on violence against nurses of patients hospitalized in internal and surgical clinics. Material and Methods: The sample of the study consisted of 373 hospitalized patients in the internal and surgical clinics of a state hospital. Data were collected by the questionnaire prepared by researchers. In the evaluation of the data; number and percentage calculations were used. Results: The average age of the patients participating in our study is 52.09±18.59. 8.0% of the patients had a problem with one of the nurses who gave care to them during their hospitalization. To solve a problem with nurses, the patients stated that physical violence (1.3%), verbal violence (4.3%), and psychological violence (3.2%) could be used as a solution. The reasons patients experience problems were as follows: nurses who did not have effective communication skills (43.3%), who were inexperienced (23.4%), who did not answer the questions asked by the patients (23.4%), and who did not come immediately when they called (26.6%), and patients with anger control problems (30.0%). Conclusion: It was determined that the patients mostly used verbal/psychological violence against nurses, and nurses' ineffective communication and anger control problem of the patients were effective factors in the emergence of violence.
