ABSTRACT
Objective: This study aims to examine the difference of dark triad traits and online trolling behaviors between users and nonusers of online dating services' (ODS) which are generally used for meeting possible romantic partners. Material and Methods: In this direction, socio-demographic questionnaire that includes questions about ODS usage habits, Short Dark Triad Personality Inventory developed by Jones and Paulhus and Trolling Behavior Scale developed by Kızıltepe were used. Scores of participants from different cities of Turkey between the age of 18 and 64 (mean=29.83±7.99 years) were analyzed. Data gathered from online survey. Results: Results showed that there is a statistically significant difference between the short dark triad inventory and trolling behavior scale scores of ODS' users and non-users. Participants who are active users of OCD showed higher scores of antisocial and Machiavellianism subtypes but no difference was found for narcissism subtype scores. In addition, a statistically significant moderate positive relationship was found between the short dark triad inventory and trolling behavior scale scores. Conclusion: In line with the results, it's seen that dark triad traits and problematic internet behaviors affect the usage of ODS. Moreover, sociodemographic variables taught to be related were examined and results were discussed accordingly with the literature.
