Reçetedeki ürünün kullanım amacı hakkında eczacıların %87,5'i, eczane personelinin %77,8'i; kullanım süresi hakkında ise eczacıların %50'si, eczane personelinin %33,3'ü hastaya doğru bilgilendirme yapmıştır. Ürünün uygulama şekli hakkında eczacıların %80'i hastaya herhangi bir bilgi vermemiştir. Sonuç: Akılcı ilaç kullanımında önemli yere sahip olan eczacıların, meslek içi eğitimlerle bitkisel ürünlerin akılcı kullanımı konusundaki bilgilerini pekiştirmesi, etkinlik ve güvenilirliklerini değerlendirebilmeleri ve kullanıcılara bu bilgileri sunmaları gerekmektedir. Bitkisel ürünlerin sadece eczanelerden satılması konusunda çalışmalar yapılması, denetimsiz ürünlerin kullanımından oluşacak zararın azaltılmasında önemlidir.

Anahtar Kelimeler: Akılcı ilaç kullanımı; bitkisel ürün; serbest eczacı; farmasötik bakım
ABSTRACT
Objective: As a result of the increasing interest in herbal products around the world and in our country, new products are coming to the market almost every day. It is important that patients are informed correctly in order to use these products effectively and safely. There is no scientific study in our country on the behavior and level of informing patients about herbal products by pharmacists. The aim of our study is to investigate the level of informing and counseling of patients about herbal products by community pharmacists. Material and Methods: After the determination of Prospan® syrup as the herbal product commonly found in community pharmacies in the region where the study was conducted, a questionnaire form was prepared to evaluate the pharmacist's level of providing information to the patients about this product. Simulated patients who were of similar sociocultural level were trained about the study and filling of the questionnaire and they visited the community pharmacy with a prescription for Prospan® syrup. They answered the questionnaire immediately after leaving the pharmacy. The data was evaluated statistically. Results: Prescriptions were met by pharmacists in 58.3% of the community pharmacies, and by pharmacy staff in 41.7%. The simulated patient's time in the pharmacy was on average 144 seconds. The counseling time given when the prescription was met by the pharmacist was 2.58 ±0.09 minutes, and it was 2.22±0.11 minutes when it was met by the pharmacy staff (p=0.009). The simulated patient was asked about his/her age, the presence of existing disease, the use of other drugs and the use of other herbal products, respectively, in 13.9%, 2%, 2.6%, and 0.7% of the pharmacies. Patients were informed about the intended use of the prescribed product by 87.5% of pharmacists and 77.8% of pharmacy personnel and about the duration of the use of the product, 50% of pharmacists and 33.3% of pharmacy staff provided correct information to the patient. 80% of the pharmacists did not give any information to the patient as to how to apply/administer the product. Conclusion: Pharmacists, who have an important role in rational drug use, should reinforce their knowledge about the rational use of herbal products by continued training, thus be able to evaluate their effectiveness and reliability, and present this information to the patients. It is also important to work on regulations that allow the sale of herbal products only in pharmacies and reduce the damage caused by the use of uncontrolled products.
