Amaç: Ölüm her canlının yaşayacağı kaçınılmaz bir gerçektir ve az çok her kişide kaygı uyandırmaktadır. Bu çalışma, bir devlet hastanesinde çalışan hemşirelerin ve doktorların ölüm kaygılarına ilişkin görüşleri ve etkileyen faktörleri incelemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Bu araştırma, tanımlayıcı olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın evreni, bir devlet hastanesinde çalışan hemşire ve hekimlerin tamamıdır. Veriler, Mayıs 2019-Ağustos 2019 tarihleri arasında toplanmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak kişisel bilgi formu ve Ölüm Kaygısı Ölçeği (ÖKÖ) kullanılmıştır. Araştırmaya başlamadan önce etik kurul ve kurum izni alınmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde ortalama, standart sapma, sayı, yüzde, Mann-Whitney U testi ve Kruskal-Wallis analizi kullanılmıştır. Anlamlılık düzeyi p<0,05 kabul edilmiştir. Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan hemşire ve hekimlerin %62'si kadın, %47,2'si 32-43 yaş arasında, %64,4'ü evli, %58,3'ünün çocuğu olmadığı, %60,7'sinin lisans ve üzeri düzeyde eğitime sahip olduğu bulunmuştur. Katılımcıların %61,4'ü gelir durumunun orta/kötü, %79'u kronik hastalığı olmadığını belirtmiştir. Katılımcıların ÖKÖ toplam puan ortalaması 7,00±4,58 olarak bulunmuştur (hemşire=9,00±3,83; hekim=2,00±2,77). Çalışmada hemşirelerin ve hekimlerin cinsiyet, eğitim durumu, algılanan gelir düzeyi, mesleği ve kurumda çalışma pozisyonu ile ölüm kaygısı puanları arasında anlamlı fark olduğu tespit edilmiştir (p<0,05). Sonuç: Sonuç olarak araştırmaya katılan hemşirelerin ölüm kaygısı, hekimlere göre daha yüksektir. Cinsiyet, eğitim düzeyi, algılanan gelir durumu, meslek gibi değişkenlerin ölüm kaygısını etkilediği söylenebilir.

Objective: Death is inevitable fact every living thing will live and its create anxiety more or less in every person. In this study, nurses and doctors' working in a public hospital were in order to examined for their opinions on death anxiety and affecting factors. Material and Methods: This study was conducted as descriptive. The population of the study is all nurses and doctors working in a public hospital. The data were collected between May 2019-August 2019. As a data collection tool, a personel information form and 'Death Anxiety Scale' were used. Ethics committee permission and institutional permission were obtained before the study. The data were assessed using mean, standard deviation, number, percentage, Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis. Significance level was accepted as p<0.05. Results: It was found that 62.0% of the nurses and physicians participating in the study were women, 47.2% were between 32-43 years old, 64.4% were married, 58.3% had no children and 60.7% were undergraduate and above education. 61.4% of the participants stated that their income was modarete/poor and 79.0% stated that they had no chronic disease. Nurses and doctors participeted in the research found 'Death Anxiety Scale' score of as 7.00±4.58 (nurse=9.00±3.83; doctor= 2.00±2.77). In the study, it was found that there was a significant difference between nurses and physicians' gender, educational background, perceived income level, occupation, working position in the institution and death anxiety scores (p<0.05). Conclusion: As a conclusion, nurses participated in the research death anxiety is higher than the physicians. It can be said that variables such as gender, education level, perceived income status, job affect death anxiety.
