Turkiye Klinikleri Journal of Medical Ethics-Law and History is an unbiased, independent scientific journal that evaluates articles with "peer-review" and "double-blind" systems.
The articles in this section of research staff, specialists, and teaching staff who are interested in medical ethics, medical education, medical law and history are accepted.
Turkiye Klinikleri Journal of Medical Ethics, Law and History is published in English and Turkish. The journal is published three times a year (February, June, October).
Turkiye Klinikleri Journal of Medical Ethics-Law and History publishes research articles and articles on social issues related to medical education, medical ethics, law and history, articles produced from expertise theses and projects that are accepted by the institutions, compilation, editorial comment / discussion, editorial letter, book evaluations, questions and answers. The aim of the journal is to provide information exchange between the articles published by the readers and scientific development. Contributing to the scientific development of our country by working for the international representation and reference of the publications is among the publishing purposes of the journal.
PRINCIPLES OF RESEARCH AND PUBLISHING ETHICS
Scientific writings submitted to the Turkiye Klinikleri Journal of Medical Ethics-Law and History should take into account the guidelines related to the Higher Education Institutions Scientific Research and Publication Ethics , the suggestions of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and International Standards for Editors and Authors of the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) .
Ethical Responsibility: The Turkiye Klinikleri Journal of Medical Ethics-Law and History adheres to the principles set forth in the Helsinki Declaration (http://www.wma.net/en/30publications/10policies/b3/ index.html) and holds that all reported research involving “Human beings” conducted in accordance with such principles. Reports describing data obtained from research conducted in human participants must contain a statement in the “material and methods” section indicating approval by the institutional ethical review board and affirmation that INFORMED CONSENT was obtained from each participant.
All papers reporting experiments using animals must include a statement in the “material and methods”section giving assurance that all animals have received humane care in compliance with the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (www.nap.edu/catalog/5140.html) and indicating approval by the institutional ethical review board.
Case reports should be accompanied by INFORMED CONSENT whether the identity of the patient is disclosed or not.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism takes many forms, from ‘passing off’ another’s paper as the author’s own paper, to copying or paraphrasing substantial parts of another’s paper (without attribution), to claiming results from research conducted by others. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical behavior and is unacceptable. Authors should submit original works and sources must be appropriately cited or quoted.
All submitted manuscripts are checked for plagiarism using iThenticate and subsequently reviewed for their suitability for publication in the journal. Manuscripts with high plagiarism, insufficient originality, serious scientific or technical flaws are rejected.
Duplicate submission
Authors should not submit the same manuscript or similar manuscript based on the same database, in the same or different languages, simultaneously to more than one journal.
Fabrication and falsification of data
Scientific misconduct in research and non-research publications includes but is not necessarily limited to data fabrication; data falsification, including deceptive manipulation of images; purposeful failure to disclose conflicts of interest; and plagiarism. Some people consider failure to publish the results of clinical trials and other human studies a form of scientific misconduct.
When scientific misconduct is alleged, or concerns are otherwise raised about the conduct or integrity of work described in submitted or published papers, the journal acts according to the COPE Guidelines.
Citations manipulation
A manuscript should contain only relevant citations. The inclusion of citations that are not relevant to the work is strongly discouraged. Similarly, irrelevant self-citation to increase one’s citation is unethical.
AUTHORSHIP
All authors should have contributed to the article directly either academically or scientifically.
Authorship should be based on the following 4 criteria:
1.Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work; AND
2. Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content; AND
3. Final approval of the version to be published; AND
4. Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
All those designated as authors should meet all four criteria for authorship, and all who meet the four criteria should be identified as authors. Those who do not meet all four criteria should be acknowledged.
It is the collective responsibility of the authors, not the journal to which the work is submitted, to determine that all people named as authors meet all four criteria.
It is the authors’ responsibility to prepare a manuscript that meets scientific criterias.
Changes in authorship
The writers' names and placement that are indicated in the copyright transfer form will be considered after the process of the manuscript is started.
After this stage;
- A writer name cannot be added to the manuscript in any time except the writers who signed the copyright transfer form.
- The order of the writers' names cannot be changed.
Acknowledgement
Contributors who meet fewer than all 4 of the above criteria for authorship should not be listed as authors, but they should be acknowledged.
Conflict of interest, financial support, grants, and all other editorial (statistical analysis, language editing) and/or technical asistance if present, must be presented at the end of the text.
Conflict of Interest
According to WAME, "Conflict of interest (COI) exists when there is a divergence between an individual’s private interests (competing interests) and his or her responsibilities to scientific and publishing activities such that a reasonable observer might wonder if the individual’s behavior or judgement was motivated by considerations of his or her competing interests.".
Potential conflicts of interest should be disclosed to the journal at the earliest stage.
COPYRIGHT POLICY
In accordance with the Copyright Act of 1976, the publisher owns the copyright of all published articles. Statements and opinions expressed in the published material here in are those of the author(s).
Manuscript writers are not paid by any means for their manuscripts.
All manuscripts submitted must be accompanied by the "TRANSFER OF COPYRIGHT AGREEMENT" that is available in web sity https://www.turkiyeklinikleri.com/upload/copyright_form/journal_copyright.pdf.
All articles, drawings, figures and tables published in Turkiye Klinikleri Journal of Medical Ethics-Law and History cannot be reproduced in whole or in part without prior written permission from the publisher. Only for scientific purposes summarizing and quotations can be done with the condition of proper citations listed as references.
Responsibility of the articles, figures and photos belongs to authors.
Direct quotations, tables, or illustrations that have appeared in copyrighted material must be accompanied by written permission for their use from the copyright owner and authors.
ADVERTISEMENT POLICY
Journal receives advertising support for its print and electronic editions and maintains editorial integrity through policies that define the Editorial/Advertiser relationship:
Print and electronic advertising does not influence editorial decisions, and advertising is not an endorsement by the Publisher, Editor, or the Editorial Board.
Journal reserves the right to refuse any advertising for any reason preserving the conditions consistent with the journal’s high standards of healthcare editorial.
Print advertisements are interspersed throughout the journal but do not interrupt the flow articles. The journal website contains online banner advertising.
To avoid implied endorsement by the Journal, the article, or the authors of the article; advertisements are not adjacent to articles addressing the product or its disease state.
Neither the Editor(s) nor the publisher guarantees, warrants or endorses any product or service advertised in this publication.
Advertising parties are fully responsible for their advertisements.
