Hemşirelerin %76,1'i santral venöz kateter eğitimi almıştır.

Objective: This is a descriptive study that intended to examine intensive care unit nurses' awareness about the evidence-based practices for the prevention of catheter-related blood circulation infections in patients with central venous catheters. Material and Methods: The study was conducted between June and September 2017 with 176 nurses who worked in the intensive care units and palliative care services of the state hospitals affiliated with Public Hospitals Association. The researcher created the data collection tools using questions about nurses' sociodemographic and professional traits as well as the evidence-based information. The researcher summarized the data in the form of numbers and percentages by performing t-test SPSS 22.0 software. Results: The mean age of the nurses in the study was 31.96±1.23 years, and 77.3% of them were female. 76.1% of the nurses received central venous catheter training. An evaluation of the nurses' knowledge awareness about central venous catheters practices indicated that the mean value of the practices they knew about among all 13 practices was 9.4±2.7, and the rate of the nurses who knew about all 13 practices was 15.5%. Conclusion: The study found out that being trained on this issue and working in a unit that requires qualification influence the awareness about evidence-based knowledge. Recommends that researchers should draw more attention to the importance of evidence-based knowledge and organizing more professional and inservice training programs with regard to professional development.
