Çocukluk çağında güneş ışığına uzun süre maruz kalmak, deri kanseri riskinin artmasında en önemli etmenlerdendir. Bu yüzden deri kanserini önlemeye yönelik yapılan girişimlerin ilk amacı çocukları ultraviyole ışınlarından korumaktır. Çocuklar için temel oluşturacak ve ömür boyu sürecek olumlu davranışların kazandırılacağı en uygun yıllar okul öncesi dönemdir. Bu davranışların kazandırılmasında, çocukların kendilerine rol modeli olarak aldıkları ebeveynleri ilk sırada gelmektedir. Bu makalede, ebeveynlere güneşten korunma davranışlarının kazandırılması ve daha sonra rol modeli olarak çocuklarının güneşten korunma davranışlarını etkilemeleri için hazırlanmış olan, 'Çocuğumu Güneşten Koruyorum Programı'nın tanıtılması amaçlanmıştır. Programın kavramsal çerçevesini 'Sosyal Bilişsel Teori' oluşturmuştur. Ebeveynlerin, güneşten korunma davranışlarında ve çocuklarına doğru rol modeli olmalarında bu programın kullanılabileceği düşünülmektedir.

The long-term exposure to sunlight during childhood is one of the most important factors in increasing the risk of skin cancer. For this reason, the main aim of the interventions to prevent skin cancer is to protect children from ultraviolet light. The most suitable period to bring the positive behaviors to form a basis for children and continue for a lifetime is the preschool period. In acquiring these behaviors, parents who are seen as a role model by children are placed on the top. The aim of this study was to introduce "I am Protecting my Child From the Sun Program" prepared to have parents acquire the sun protection behaviors and then get them affect the sun protection behaviors of their children as their role model. The "Social Cognitive Theory" formed the conceptual framework of the program. As a result, it is thought that this program can be used for parents to have sun protection behaviors and become a true role model for their children.
