Amaç: Rutin beslenme programında tercih edilen yağın miktarı ve türü oldukça önemlidir. Yağ içeriği kompozisyonu ile dikkat çeken hindistan cevizi ve yağı; genel sağlık ile beden kompozisyonunun iyileştirilmesi gibi amaçlarla günümüzde sıklıkla kullanılmaktadır. Ancak, bu alandaki mevcut bulgular hâla çelişkilidir. Bu nedenle, çalışmamız düzenli Hindistan cevizi tüketiminin beden kompozisyonuna etkilerini araştırmak amacı ile planlanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Çalışmamız, sağlık yetişkin bireyler ile yapılan deneysel tipte randomize kontrollü bir çalışmadır. Tüm katılımcılara (n: 51), 4 hafta süren sağlıklı beslenme eğitimi verilmiştir. Eğitim sonrasında katılımcılar kontrol (n: 27) ve deney (n: 24) gruplarına randomize edilmiştir. Her iki gruptaki katılımcılara %55 karbonhidrat, %15 protein ve %30 yağ içeren izokalorik sağlıklı diyet programı verilmiştir. Müdahale grubundan sağlıklı diyet programına ek, her gün düzenli olarak, taze Hindistan cevizi tüketmeleri istenmiştir. Yapılan müdahale 4 hafta sürdü. Gönüllülerin müdahale öncesinde ve sonrasında antropometrik ölçümleri alınmıştır. İstatistiksel analiz, Windows platformunda SPSS kullanılarak yapılmıştır. Verilerin normal dağılıma uygunluğu Kolmogorov-Smirnov testi ile belirlenmiştir İstatistiksel analizlerde grup içi ve gruplar arası anlamlılık değeri p<0,05 olarak alınmıştır. Bu araştırma, ClinicalTrials.gov'da NCT06226623 tanımlayıcıyla kaydedilmiştir. Bulgular: Yapılan istatistiksel analizler sonucu başlangıçta iki grubun beden kütle indeksi (BKİ), vücut ağırlığı, yağ kütlesi ve yüzdesi ile bel çevresi değerleri arasında önemli bir fark yoktu. Müdahale sonunda gruplar başlangıca göre kıyaslandığında BKİ, vücut ağırlığı, yağ kütlesi ve yüzdesi ile bel çevresi değerlerinde azalma olduğu belirlenmiştir (p<0,05). Gruplar kıyaslandığında, beden kompozisyonu bileşenlerinden sadece vücut yağ kütlesi ve yağ yüzdesindeki azalmanın müdahale grubu lehine istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde olduğu belirlenmiştir (p<0,05). Sonuç: Günlük beslenme programına hindistan cevizi eklenmesinin beden kompozisyonu üzerine olumlu etkileri vardır. Bu konuda daha kapsamlı çalışmalara ihtiyaç vardır.

Objective: The amount and type of fat preferred in the routine nutrition program is very important. Coconut, distinguished by its composition of fat content, is commonly utilized nowadays for purposes such as enhancing overall health and improving body composition. However, current findings in this area are still contradictory. For this reason, our study was planned to investigate the effects of regular coconut consumption on body composition. Material and Methods: Our study is a randomized controlled study conducted with healthy adult individuals. All participants (n: 51) were given healthy nutrition training for 4 weeks. After the training, participants were randomized into control (n: 27) and experimental (n: 24) groups. Both groups were given an isocaloric healthy nutrition program containing 55% carbohydrate, 15% protein and 30% fat. In addition to the healthy diet program in the intervention package, they were asked to consume fresh coconut regularly every day. The intervention lasted 4 weeks. Anthropometric measurements of the volunteers were taken during and after the intervention. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS on the Windows platform. Compliance of the data with normal distribution was determined by Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. In statistical analysis, the significance value within and between groups was taken as p<0.05. This trial was registered with ClinicalTrials.gov under the identifier NCT06226623. Results: As a result of the analysis, there was no significant difference between the two groups at baseline in body mass index (BMI), body weight, fat percentage and waist values. During the intervention, it was determined that there was a decrease in BMI, body weight, fat amount and percentage, and waist value compared to the groups (p<0.05). When the groups were compared, it was determined that only the decrease in body fat mass and fat percentage, among the body composition components, decreased statistically significantly in favor of the intervention group (p<0.05). Conclusion: Adding coconut to the daily nutrition program has positive effects on body composition. More comprehensive studies are needed on this subject.
