Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of complex training (CT) potentiation on reactive strength index (RSI) parameters. Material and Methods: Ten recreationally active male participants, who had at least 1,5 years of weight training history, and who could do half squat at least 1,5 times of their body weight, were included in the study. Participants came to the laboratory on 2 measurement days. A minimum of 48 hours of rest was given between the measurement days. On the first measurement day, participants' anthropometric measurements, 1 repetition maximal (1 RM) half squat values and optimal drop heights were determined. On the second measurement day, following the standard warm up protocol, the participants were asked to apply a literaturely widespread CT protocol. The CT protocol was composed of 3 sets of 1 RM 90% with 3 repetitions of half squats and 5 maximal vertical jumps. Depth jumps were made from the optimal drop heights determined on the first day at the 15th second, 2nd, 4th, 8th, 12th and 16th measurement minutes after the 3rd set. At the end of those jumps, jump height (cm) (JH), ground contact time (ms) (GCT) and RSI (mm/ms) values of each individual were taken into consideration. Parametric test assumptions statistically were fulfilled (p>0.05). In order to examine the differences of the variables according to the measurement times, the ANOVA test was performed for repeated measurements (p<0.05). Results: According to the findings, significant differences were obtained between the CT potentiation and the JH at the 4th minute and also between the CT potentiation and the GCT at the 15th second (p<0.05). There were significant differences between the CT potentiation and the RSI measurements at the 15th second, 2nd, 4th, 12th and 16th minutes, respectively (p<0.05). All RSI values were statistically low (p<0.05). Conclusion: As a result, it is tought that, applied protocol for CT potentiation did not have any positive effect on RSI parameters because of the conditioning levels of the participants.
