Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, sağlıklı sedanter genç bireylerde Ramazan orucunun bazı egzersiz performans parametreleri üzerine etkisini incelemekti. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Çalışmaya, 25 sedanter erkek gönüllü katıldı. Ramazan ayından 1 hafta önce katılımcıların vücut ağırlıkları ölçüldü, otur-uzan testiyle esneklikleri, t-testiyle çeviklikleri, Nelson el reaksiyon testiyle reaksiyon hızları ve el dinamometresiyle kavrama kuvvetleri belirlendi. Ölçümler, Ramazan ayının son haftası ve 1 hafta sonrası tekrarlandı. Bulgular: Katılımcıların vücut ağırlıkları ölçümleri, esneklik parametreleri ve kavrama kuvvetleri arasında anlamlı bir fark yoktu (p˃0,05). Çeviklik sürelerinin 1. ölçümü ile 2. ölçümü arasında (p=0,049) ve ilk ölçüm ile 3. ölçüm arasında anlamlı bir fark vardı (p=0,048). İkinci ölçümle 3. ölçüm arasında anlamlı bir fark yoktu (p˃0,05). Reaksiyon hızı 1. ölçümü ile 2. ölçümü arasında (p=0,047) ve ilk ölçüm ile 3. ölçüm arasında anlamlı bir fark vardı (p=0,048). İkinci ölçümle 3. ölçüm arasında anlamlı bir fark yoktu (p˃0,05). Sonuç: Bu çalışmanın sonucunda, orucun genç sağlıklı bireylerde çeviklik ve reaksiyon zamanı parametreleri üzerinde olumlu etkileri olduğu gözlemlenmiştir. Gelecekteki büyük ölçekli çalışmalarda Ramazan orucunun farklı zaman aralıklarında, farklı mevsimlerde, farklı cinsiyet ve yaş gruplarında egzersiz performans kriterleri üzerindeki etkileri araştırılabilir.

Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the effect of Ramadan fasting on some exercise performance parameters in healthy sedentary young individuals. Material and Methods: A total of 25 sedentary male volunteers participated in the study. One week before the month of Ramadan, the participants' body weights were measured, their flexibility with the sit-and-reach test, reaction rates with the Nelson hand reaction test, agility with the T test, and grip strength with the hand dynamometer. The measurements were repeated in the last week of Ramadan and a week later. Results: There was no significant difference between participants' body weight measurements, flexibility parameters and grip strengths (p˃0.05). There was a significant difference between the first measurement of the agility times and the second measurement (p=0.048), and between the first measurement and the third measurement (p=0.049). There was no significant difference between the second measurement and the third measurement (p˃0.05). There was a significant difference between the reaction rate first measurement and the second measurement, (p=0.047) and between the first measurement and the third measurement (p=0.048). There was no significant difference between the second measurement and the third measurement (p˃0.05). Conclusion: As a result of this study, it has been observed that fasting has positive effects on agility and reaction time parameters in young healthy individuals. In future large-scale studies, the effects of Ramadan fasting on exercise performance criteria with different time intervals, different seasons, different gender and age groups can be investigated.
