Objective: This study was conducted to determine the effect of standardized patient education on post-operative care management on the knowledge and performance of nursing students. Material and Methods: This semi-experimental study was carried out between April 2019-June 2019. The second grade was held in 3 stages with a total of 50 students. In the 1st stage; All students were given theoretical training about postoperative care management and pre-test was applied. Then the students were randomly divided into 2 groups (25 students working group, 25 students control group). In the 2nd stage, the scenario suitable for the experimental group with the standardized patient training was given, and no intervention was made to the control group. In the 3rd stage, 1 month after the standardized patient application, the real patient of the students performance was evaluated and post-test application was done (22 students experiment group, 21 student control group). Results: It was determined that the students in the experimental and control groups were similar in age and gender (p=0.505, and p=1.000, respectively). While the pretest-posttest knowledge scores of students in the experimental group increased statistically significantly (p<0.001); it was determined to be similar in the control group (p=0.530). The real patient performance score of the experimental group was determined to be significantly higher than the control group (p=0.002). Conclusion: As a result; It was found that the knowledge and performances of nursing students increased after simulation based training given about postoperative care management.
