Amaç: Çalışmanın amacı, koklear implant (Kİ) kullanıcılarının koronavirüs hastalığı-2019 [coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19)] pandemi sürecindeki yaşam kalitesini değerlendirmektir. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Çalışmaya 32 Kİ kullanıcısı (çalışma grubu) (19-77 yaş aralığı, ortalama: 31,53±10,14) ve 35 normal işitmeye sahip ve tanılanmış herhangi bir ek engeli olmayan sağlıklı birey (kontrol grubu) (18-65 yaş aralığı, ortalama: 28,97±11,88) olmak üzere 67 katılımcı dâhil edildi. Çalışmamızdaki tüm katılımcılara COVID-19'un Yaşam Kalitesine Etkisi Ölçeği Türkçe versiyonu [COVID-19 Impact on Quality of Life Scale (COV19-QoLTR)], Çok Boyutlu Yaşam Kalitesi İndeksi (ÇBYKİTR) ve görsel analog skala (VAS) uygulanmıştır. Çalışmaya katılan bireylere çalışmanın içeriği ve amacı açıklanıp, çevrim içi olarak ''Google Forms'' aracılığı ile onamları alındı. Bulgular: ''Fiziksel sağlık'' kategorisi dışında, COV19-QoLTR anketine göre iki grup arasında fark elde edildi (p<0,05). ÇBYKİTR anketinde sadece ''mental sağlığı'' alt bileşeninde gruplar arasında anlamlı fark bulundu (p<0,05). VAS bulgularına göre gruplar arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark elde edildi (p<0,05). İstatistiksel bulgulara dayanarak, kontrol grubunun hem anketlerdeki hem de VAS'daki ortalama değerleri, çalışma grubuna göre önemli ölçüde daha kötüydü. Sonuç: COVID-19 pandemi süreci, sağlıklı bireylerin yaşam kalitesini Kİ kullanıcılarına göre daha olumsuz etkilemiştir. İlk bakışta pandemi gibi küresel sağlık krizlerinde sağlık hizmetlerinin ana odak noktası hasta bireyler olsa da sağlık profesyonellerinin görevlerinden biri de sağlıklı bireylerin yaşam kalitesinin korunmasının sağlanmasıdır. Bu nedenle, Kİ kullanıcıları dışında sağlıklı bireylerin de göz ardı edilmemesi gerekmektedir.

Objective: The aim of the study is to evaluate the quality of life in adults with cochlear implant (CI) users during coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Material and Methods: A total of 67 participants, comprised of 32 CI users (19-77 age range, mean: 31.53±10.14) and 35 healthy adults with normal hearing (18-65 years old, mean: 31.53±10.14) were included. All participants were presented with the Turkish adaption of the ''COVID-19 Impact on Quality of Life Scale'' (COV19-QoLTR), the Multidimensional Index of Life Quality (MILQ), and the visual analog scale (VAS). The participants were informed and their consent was obtained online via ''Google Forms.'' Results: A substantial difference was found between the two groups based on the COV19-QoLTR (p<0.05), except for the ''physical health'' category. Only the ''mental health'' sub-component of the MILQ revealed a significant difference between the two groups (p<0.05). A statistically significant difference was obtained between the groups according to the VAS findings (p<0.05). Based on the statistical findings, the mean values of the control group in both questionnaires and VAS were substantially worse than those of the study group. Conclusion: The impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the quality of life was more pronounced among healthy adults compared to CI users. While the primary focus of healthcare services during pandemics initially revolves around patients, it's crucial to remember that safeguarding the stability of quality of life for healthy individuals is also among the foremost responsibilities of healthcare professionals. Therefore, it's important not to overlook healthy individuals alongside CI users.
