Objective: This study was conducted to determine the thought and opinions of the midwifery students about the internal medicine course. Material and Methods: The data of the study were collected from 21 midwifery students who had taken courses in internal medicine during the fall semester of Faculty of Health Sciences of the a university. The data of the phenomenological type study were collected and analyzed through in-depth individual interviews in order to determine the students thoughts and views in accordance with thematic analysis procedures. Permission has been obtained for the research to be made. The data were derived from the eight main themes questioning the necessity of the internal medicine course, the level of compulsion, the difficulties encountered, the difficulties encountered, the content adequacy, the objectives, the suggestions about the functioning and the transfer of theoretical knowledge to practice. Results: The vast majority of students reported that the course became more exhausting as the internal medicine course was essential for the midwifery department, but they did not want to process it as thoroughly as the nursing department, because the concentration on the content took them along with another main course, which they tired and forced them to do. It has been stated that the expectations about the course, such as efficiency, practical reflection and guidance, are well received but that lesson times need to be increased in order to reduce the intensity of the curriculum. They said that revising the course as 'Internal Medicine in Pregnancy' would be more beneficial for them. In addition, they pointed out that the case discussions are more instructive and that more room should be given to the course. Conclusion: It has been concluded that the course of internal medicine is necessary for midwifery students, and the attempts to solve the problems by identifying the parts where the students have difficulty may increase the efficiency of the course.
