Amaç: Bu anket çalışmasının amacı, diş hekimliği stajyer öğrencilerinde koronavirüs hastalığı-2019 [coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19)] sürecinde tamamlanamayan preklinik eğitiminin gelecek kaygısına ve öz güven seviyesine etkisini incelemektir. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Çalışmaya Biruni Üniversitesi ve Atatürk Üniversitesinde eğitim görmekte olan 240 öğrenci katıldı. Yirmi iki sorudan oluşan anket, çalışmaya katılan öğrencilere yüz yüze veri toplama yöntemi ile uygulandı. İstatistiksel anlamlılık düzeyi p0,05 olarak belirlendi. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde deskriptif analizlerden ve ki-kare testinden faydalanıldı. Bulgular: COVID-19 ile ilgili görüşler yaşa göre değişkenlik göstermemiştir. Veriler cinsiyete göre değerlendirildiğinde, kız öğrencilerde endişe, öz güven kaybı ve gelecek kaygısı erkeklere göre anlamlı derecede daha fazla bulunmuştur. Aynı şekilde mezuniyet sonrası iş olanaklarının kısıtlandığı düşüncesi kız öğrencilerde anlamlı oranda daha fazla bulunmuştur. Eğitim dönemine göre yapılan analizlerde ise son sınıf öğrencileri 4. sınıf öğrencilerine göre anlamlı derecede daha endişeli bulunmuş ve mesleki olarak negatif etkilendiklerini savunmuşlardır. Hissedilen gelecek kaygısı ve öz güven seviyesi üzerinde ise eğitim döneminin anlamlı bir etkisi olmadığı görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin pandemi sebebiyle öğrenmekte en çok zorluk çektiği dersler ise staj öncesi preklinik eğitimi olan protez ve endodonti olmuştur. Sonuç: Çalışmamızda, yaşın COVID-19 ile ilgili görüşleri etkilemediği, ancak cinsiyetin ve eğitim döneminin etkilediği görülmüştür. Pratik eğitimin ara verilmesini zorunlu kılmış pandemi dönemi sonrasında öğrenciler yetersiz tecrübe ile mezun olmak zorunda kalacaklarını anlamış bu sebeple gelecek kaygısı ve öz güven kaybı yaşamışlardır.

Objective: The aim of this survey study is to examine the effect of preclinical education, which could not be completed during the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) process, on the future anxiety and self-confidence level of dentistry trainee students. Material and Methods: 240 students studying at Biruni University and Atatürk University participated in the study. The questionnaire consisting of 22 questions was applied to the students participating in the study by face-to-face data collection method. Statistical significance level was determined as p0.05. Descriptive analyzes and chi-square test were used to evaluate the data. Results: Opinions about COVID-19 did not differ according to age. When the data were evaluated according to gender; anxiety, loss of self-confidence and future anxiety were found to be significantly higher in female students than in males. Likewise, the thought that job opportunities are restricted after graduation was found to be significantly higher in female students. In the analyzes made according to the education period, the senior students were found to be significantly more anxious than the 4th grade students and stated that they were negatively affected professionally. It was seen that the education period did not have a significant effect on the future anxiety and self-confidence level. The courses that students had the most difficulty in learning due to the pandemic were prosthesis and endodontics, which are preclinical education before internship. Conclusion: In our study, it was seen that age did not affect the views about COVID19, but gender and education period dip. After the pandemic period, which made it necessary to take a break from practical education, students realized that they would have to graduate with insufficient experience, so they had anxiety about the future and lost self-confidence.
