Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, diş hekimliği fakültesi öğrencilerinin günümüzde kullanımı gittikçe artan geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tıp (GETAT) yöntemlerine yönelik tutumlarının araştırılması ve bu konudaki mevcut algı düzeyinin analiz edilmesidir. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Tanımlayıcı ve kesitsel nitelikte olan bu çalışma, 2019-2020 eğitim döneminde diş hekimliği fakültesinde okuyan 1, 2, 3 ve 4. sınıf öğrencileriyle Ekim 2019-Kasım 2019 tarihleri arasında öncesinde literatürden faydalanarak hazırlanan ve çeşitli sorulardan oluşan anketler aracılığıyla toplam 243 gönüllü öğrenci üzerinde yapılmıştır. Hazırlanan anketimiz, öğrencilerin GETAT hakkındaki tutum ve yaklaşımlarına yönelik sorular içeren bölümlerden oluşmaktaydı. Bulgular: Toplam 136 kadın, 107 erkek olmak üzere 243 öğrencinin katıldığı çalışmamızda, GETAT konusunda öğrencilerin en fazla haberdar olduğu yöntemlerin sırasıyla hirudoterapi-sülük (%59,7), akupunktur (%56) ve kupa terapisi (%51) olduğu görüldü. Öğrenciler arasında en sık kullanılan yöntemler arasında kupa terapisi (%8,2), hirudoterapi-sülük (%4,1) ve müzik terapi (%4,1) yer alırken; proloterapi, apiterapi ve kayropraktik yöntemlerini ise hiç kimsenin kullanmadığı tespit edildi. Ayrıca öğrencilerin %64,2'si akupunktur, %55,6'sı müzik terapi ve %54,7'si kupa terapisi hakkında eğitim almak istediklerini belirtti. Sonuç: GETAT uygulamaları, öğrenciler tarafından genel anlamda faydalı bulunurken öğrencilerin büyük bir çoğunluğu diş hekimliği eğitim müfredatında GETAT uygulamaları hakkında ders almak istediğini belirtti. Bu anlamda mevcut eğitim müfredatında yapılacak düzenlemeler ile diş hekimlerinin GETAT uygulamalarına yönelik tutum ve yaklaşımlarına pozitif katkı sağlanacaktır.

Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the attitudes of the students of the faculty of dentistry towards traditional and complementary medicine methods, which are increasingly used today, and to analyze the current perception level on this subject. Material and Methods: This descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out between 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade students who were trained at the faculty of dentistry in the 2019-2020 academic year between October 2019 and November 2019. It was included on a total of 243 volunteer students and used questionnaires that consisting of various questions and prepared using the literature. Our prepared questionnaire consisted of sections containing questions about students' attitudes and approaches to GETAT. Results: The study was attended by 243 students including 136 women and 107 men. The methods that students were most aware of about GETAT were hirudotherapy-leech (59.7%), acupuncture (56%) and cup therapy (51%), respectively. Among the students, the most commonly used methods were cup therapy (8.2%), hirudotherapy-leech (4.1%) and music therapy (4.1%); It was determined that no one used prolotherapy, apitherapy and chiropractic methods. In addition, 64.2% of the students stated that they wanted to receive training on acupuncture, 55.6% of music therapy and 54.7% of cup therapy. Conclusion: While GETAT methods are generally beneficial for students, the vast majority of students stated that they want to take courses about GETAT applications in the dental education curriculum. In this sense, with the arrangements to be made in the current education curriculum, a positive contribution will be made to the attitudes and approaches of dentists towards GETAT methods.
