Objective: The aim of this study is to examine the effect of functional balance training on balance and agility in female soccer players. Material and Methods: Twenty two female footballers of Konak Belediyesi Spor Kulübü were included in the study voluntarily. Participants were randomly divided into 2 groups as the Bosu and the Flat ground [Bosu (n=11): age 12.45±0.52; Flat ground (n=11): age 12.09±0.94]. Functional balance training was applied to both groups for 6 weeks, 3 days a week before 35 minutes of routine training. Before and after the application, the static balance measurements of the participants were measured using the Flamingo balance test and the dynamic balance measurements using the Y balance test and the agility measurements using the T test. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used for the differences between the pre- and post-test data of the groups, and the Mann-Whitney U test was used for the differences between the groups. Results: After functional balance training, improvement was observed in the right foot static balance and left foot static balance performance of the Bosu group (respectively; p<0.01, p<0.05). Dynamic balance right foot posteromedial, posterolateral and left foot posterolateral values of Bosu group were increased (p<0.01). The agility performance of the Bosu group improved after functional balance training (p<0.05). While there was no improvement in the dynamic balance and agility performance of the flat ground group, there was an increase in the static balance performance of the right foot and the left foot (p<0.05, p<0.01). When the post-test values of both groups were compared, it was determined that the static balance and dynamic balance performance of the Bosu group were better than the flat ground group. Conclusion: It can be argued that functional balance training performed on Bosu has positive effects on dynamic balance, static balance and agility performance.
