ABSTRACT
Objective: This experimental research studies and compares the shaping ability (centering ability, canal transportation) of Reciproc Blue (RB) and TruNatomy (TN) endodontic file systems in the preparation of moderataly curved canals in simulated resin block. Material and Methods: 32 J-shaped resin blocks were randomly divided into 2 equal groups (Group 1: TN n=16; Group 2: RB, n=16). Specimens were dyed with black ink and photographed under stereomicroscope before preparation. Group 1 was treated with R25. Group 2 was treated with TruNatomy Glider and TruNatomy Prime. After instrumentation, specimens were dyed with red ink and photographed under stereomicroscope again. Before and after photograps were matched and measured. Data were evaluated by using Kruskal Wallis analysis of variance. The significance level was established at 0.5%. Results: In apical region, TN had better results about centering ability (p<0,01). In middle and coronal regions, no significant differences were found between TN and RB. When total canal lenght were examined, TN had better results about centering ability (p<0,01). In apical and middle regions, RB had more tendencey about canal transportation(p<0,01). When total canal lenght were examined, higher canal transportation rates were recorded in RB group (p<0,01). Conclusion: TN system had better results about centering ability and canal transportation. Different design characteristics and lower taper rate of TN might have explained this results.
