Objective: Homeopathy is one of the complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) methods recognized by the World Health Organization. The aim of this study was to evaluate the knowledge, attitudes and opinions and of family practice specialists and residents about complementary medicine methods and homeopathy. Material and Methods: In our study, we used a questionnaire consisting of 17 questions evaluating the demographic data of the participants and their knowledge, attitude and opinions about homeopathy and complementary therapies. The questionnaire was administered to residents and specialist physicians working in the family medicine department in three different training and research hospitals in Istanbul.Data obtained from the questionnaires were analyzed with IBM SPSS Statistics 22. Descriptive statistical methods (mean, standard deviation, frequency) and Chi-square tests were used. Significance was evaluated at p<0.05. Results: A total of 85 family physicians (26 males and 59 females) with a mean age of 31.07±6.55 participated in the study. The rate of physicians who had knowledge about homeopathic treatments was 21.2% (n=18), who participated in a training or certificate program on any CAM method was 20% (n=17) who considered using complementary therapies for the treatment of themselves or their relatives was 49.4% (n=42), who recommended CAM methods to their patients was 30.6% (n=26). Conclusion: The percentage of family practice and residents using complementary therapies and recommending these therapies was found to be consistent with previous studies with physicians and healthcare workers.
