Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between athletes' chronotypes and their mental toughness in sports. Material and Methods: The study group consisted of 340 athletes (170 females and 170 males) between the ages of 18-30 studying at Balıkesir University, Faculty of Sport Sciences. As data collection tools; ''Personal Information Form'', ''Self-Assessment Questionnaire to Determine Morningness-Eveningness in Human Circadian Rhythms Scale'' and ''Sports Mental Toughness Questionnaire'' were used. SPSS package program was used for data analysis. Results: As a result of the study, it was determined that the mental toughness scores of male athletes were significantly higher than female athletes (p<0.05). In terms of frequency of practicing sports, it was seen that athletes who practiced sports 3 or more days a week had higher mental toughness scores than athletes who practiced sports 2 days a week (p<0.05). Moreover, a significant positive relationship between the mental toughness ''confidence'' and ''constancy'' sub-dimension score in morning and intermediate types (p<0.05), while there was no significant relationship between the mental toughness sub-dimensions in evening types. As a result of classification®ression tree analysis, it was determined that the relationship between chronotype score and trust, control and constancy variables. Conclusion: In conclusion, male athletes had higher mental toughness levels than female athletes. The increase in the frequency of practicing sports contributed to an increase in the level of mental toughness. The tendency to be a morning and intermediate person may lead to a positive increase in trust, control and constancy behaviours.
