Objective: While sinus augmentation procedures via lateral approach, having knowledge about the sinus septa localization and height is critical to prevent complications. Hence, the aim of this study is to evaluate septa prevalence, localization, and height by using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). Material and Methods: In this study, CBCT scans of 177 patients, who demanding dental implants at University of Illinois at Chicago Department of Periodontics, were evaluated. The parameters about septa prevalence, the localization of septa (anterior and/or posterior of the zygomatic process), and septa height were noted. Results: The septa prevalences were calculated 20.3% (36 patients) for the right side, and 19.2% (34 patient) for the left side. The septas were frequently localized anterior of the zygomatic process for both sides. The mean height of the septas 6.44±3.11 and 5.87±2.93 mm for anterior and posterior of the zygomatic process, respectively. Conclusion: To reduce the risk of complications during sinus augmentation procedures, sinus septa should be taken into consideration while planning the surgery. According to the results of this study, sinus septa is frequently localized anterior of the zygomatic process.
