Hemşirelik kuram ve modelleri, hemşirelik uygulamalarını sistematize etmek için bir çerçeve oluşturmaktadır. Hemşirelikte model kullanımı, tıbbi uygulamalardan farklı olarak, hemşireliğin özüne ve uygulamalarına odaklanılmasını sağlamaktadır. Hemşirelik disiplinini yansıtan ve alanda önemli yere sahip olan hemşirelik kuramlarından biri de "Konfor Kuramı"dır. Kolcaba tarafından geliştirilen Konfor kuramı, bakımın birçok yönünü kapsayan geniş bir bakış açısı sağlamaktadır. Konfor kuramı, bireye gereksinimleri ile ilgili yardım, huzur sağlama ve sorunların üstesinden gelebilmeye ilişkin fiziksel, psikolojik, sosyal ve çevresel bütünlük içerisinde yaklaşmayı sağlamaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Konfor kuramı çerçevesinde; kolorektal kanser tanısı almış ve Miles ameliyatı geçirmiş 67 yaşındaki erkek bir olgunun, açılan kalıcı kolostomi nedeni ile yaşadığı konfor sorunlarına ilişkin hemşirelik yönetimi ele alınmış ve kuramın kullanımına yönelik bir örnek oluşturulması amaçlanmıştır.

Nursing theory and models form a framework for systematizing nursing practices. The use of models in nursing provides nurses to focus on the essence of nursing and its applications rather than medical practice. One of the nursing theories that reflects the discipline of nursing and has important place in this area is "Comfort Theory". Comfort theory, developed by Kolcaba, provides a broader view encompassing many elements of care. Comfort theory provides to help about individual's needs in a physical, psycho-spiritual, social and environmental entity to overcome the problems. In this article, in the framework of Comfort theory; nursing management of comfort problems experienced due to the colostomy of a sixty-seven-year-old male patient who had a colorectal cancer diagnosis and had undergone a Miles surgery and to provide an example of the use of theory.
