Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of video calls between preterm infants and their mothers on the physical properties of infants. Material and Methods: The research was carried out in a a prospective, randomized controlled, experimental type in Balıkesir Atatürk City Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) between March-December in 2021. The sample of the study consists of 75 preterm infants and their mothers. The sample was divided into 3 groups including the group in which a video call was arranged between the preterm infant in the NICU and the mother (video call group), the group in which a video call was arranged between the infant and the mother, and the mother sang lullabies to the infant (video calllullaby group), and the control group. Video call between the mother and the preterm infant were made via smart devices with the 'Zoom' application. The online video calls were made between the mother and the preterm infant for seven days. Results: At the end of the seven-day study period and infant discharge, there was an improvement and increase in the physical properties (weight, height, head) of the preterm infants in the Video call group and video call- lullaby group compared to the control group, and there was a statistically significant relationship (p<0.05, p<0.01). In addition, a statistically significant relationship was found between the Mother-to-Infant Bonding Scale scores of the mothers participating in the study after the study (7th day) and the weight gain of the preterm infant during the study. Conclusion: This study had found that video calls between the mother and her preterm baby in the NICU have positive effect on the physical properties of preterm infants.
