Objective: The aim of this study was to determine patients' experiences and difficulties at home following day surgery. Material and Methods: This descriptive and cross sectional study was conducted with 160 patients who had undergone an outpatient surgical intervention. In the study three question forms were used. The patients were monitored through telephone enquiry in the first 24 hours after their discharge. When they came to the clinic for control 7 days after the discharge in a face-to-face interview in order to observe whether there had been any difference in the in-between period of 2-7 days. Results: The experiences of the patients in the first 24 hours showed that 75% of the patients experienced pain, 46.2% fatigue/feeling of weakness, 29.3% nausea/vomiting, 26.2% loss of appetite, 20.6% discharge/bleeding at wound site, 64.3% of the patients had difficulty in walking and moving around. The experiences that the patients had within 2-7 days after the surgery, were as follows: 35.6% had pain, 14.3% fatigue/feeling of weakness. While, of the patients, 51% found that the training for the time after discharge was sufficient, 82.0% wanted to have written training material. Conclusion: According to the difficulties experienced by the patients at home, it is recommended to increase the scope of discharging education specific to each clinic and to give written educational material.

Amaç: Çalışmanın amacı günübirlik cerrahi işlem uygulanan hastaların evde yaşadıkları güçlükleri belirlemektir. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Araştırma günübirlik cerrahi işlem uygulanan 160 hasta ile, tanımlayıcı ve kesitsel olarak yapılmıştır. Çalışmada üç soru formu kullanılmıştır. Hastaların taburculuk sonrası ilk 24 saat içerisinde telefon ile izlemi yapılmıştır. Taburcu olduktan 7 gün sonra kliniğe kontrol için geldiklerinde 2-7 gün arasında bir fark olup olmadığını tespit etmek için yüz yüze görüşülmüştür. Bulgular: Hastaların ilk 24 saat içerisinde, %75'inin ağrı, %46,2'sinin yorgunluk/güçsüzlük, %29,3'ünün bulantı/kusma, %26,2'sinin iştah kaybı, %20,6'sının ise yara yerinde akıntı/kanama yaşadığı, %64,3'ünün yürüme ve gezinmede zorlandığı belirlenmiştir. Hastaların 2-7 gün içinde ise; %35,6'sının ağrı, %14,3'ünün yorgunluk/güçsüzlük, sorunu olduğu belirlenmiştir. Hastaların %51,0'inin verilen taburculuk eğitimini yeterli bulduğu, %82,0'sinin yazılı eğitim materyali istediği saptanmıştır. Sonuç: Hastaların evde yaşadıkları güçlük durumlarına göre her kliniğe özgü taburculuk eğitimi kapsamının artırılması ve yazılı eğitim materyali verilmesi önerilmektedir.
