Objective: The aim of the study is to evaluate hedonic hunger and sleep deprivation in secondary school students and to investigate the relationship between the factors. Material and Methods: This study was conducted through questionnaire applied to 398 students in the 10-14 years in a secondary school. The body weight, height and waist circumference of the participants were measured by the researcher. The questionnaire form consists of general and health information, nutritional habits, Children's Nutritional Power Scale and Sleep Deprivation Scale for Children and Adolescents. The data were analyzed with the SPSS 22.0 package program. Results: A total of 398 students, 173 girls and 225 boys, participated in the study. The mean age is 11.8±0.92 years and the age range is 10-14 years. It was concluded that hedonic hunger and sleep deprivation showed statistically significant differences with the state of being busy while eating, the desire to take the food seen in the advertisement, the frequency of consumption outside and the nutrition in case of stress. In addition, there is a statistically significant difference between breakfast consumption and sleep deprivation. A positive and significant correlation was found between hedonic hunger and sleep deprivation. Conclusion: Hedonic hunger and sleep deprivation are related to their eating habits. There is also a relationship between hedonic hunger and sleep deprivation. Awareness should be created about these factors that can be effective in food consumption in the secondary school age.
