Sevgili okuyucular,
Türkiye Klinikleri, bu yayınını 'Psikiyatri Hemşireliği Eğitimi' konusuna ayırmıştır. Bilindiği gibi psikiyatri hemşireliği; birey, aile ve grupların olumsuz fonksiyonlarını düzeltme veya önlemede ve bireyin potansiyelini ortaya çıkarmayı sağlamada kişilerarası süreçleri kullanan hemşireliğin özelleşmiş bir alanıdır.Psikiyatri hemşiresi, gerçek veya potansiyel ruh sağlığı problemlerine insan yanıtlarının tanı ve tedavisini yapan kişidir. Ruhsal hastalığı olan veya olmayan tüm bireylerin ruh sağlığını koruma, güçlendirme, hastalık durumunda bakımına ve yeniden topluma dönmesine yönelik tüm uygulamalarda; psikiyatri hemşiresinden eğitim, danışmanlık, terapistlik, liderlik, savunuculuk, klinik bakım verme gibi tüm rollerini kullanılması beklenir. Nitelikli bir psikiyatri hemşiresi olmak, güçlü sorun çözme, iletişim, otonomi gibi becerileri gerektirir. Bu nedenle birey, aile ve topluma yönelik değerler, inançlar ve tutumlar, yüksek kaliteli, ilgili ve güvenli bakım sağlamak için, eğitim programları boyunca psikiyatri hemşireliği öğrencilerine aşılanmalıdır.
Çalışmalar göstermektedir ki, nitelikli hemşirelik bakımının sonucu daha az hastanede yatış, daha az komplikasyon, daha az maliyet, daha fazla memnuniyet ve sorunlarla etkili başa çıkma becerisi vb. sağlar. Dünyada olduğu gibi ülkemizde de etkili ve nitelikli psikiyatrik bakımın sonuçları araştırmalar ile gösterilmeye başlanmıştır.
Psikiyatri hemşireliğinin gelişmesi mesleki eğitim kalitesine bağlıdır. Ülkemizde lisans, yüksek lisans ve doktora düzeylerinde oldukça nitelikli eğitim faaliyetlerin yürütüldüğü bilinmektedir. Bilimsel ve teknolojik gelişmelerin psikiyatri hemşireliğine olumlu yansımaları bulunmakla birlikte, alanla ilgili çözümlenmesi gereken sorunların da olduğu aşikardır. Sorunların çözümü ve niteliğin sürekli artırılması yine eğitimle mümkündür.

Bilimsel ve teknolojik gelişmelerin psikiyatri hemşireliğine olumlu yansımaları bulunmakla birlikte, alanla ilgili çözümlenmesi gereken sorunların da olduğu aşikardır. Sorunların çözümü ve niteliğin sürekli artırılması yine eğitimle mümkündür.

As it is known, psychiatric nursing is a specialized area of nursing that uses interpersonal processes to correct or eliminate the negative functions of the individuals, families, and groups and to help the individual unveil his/her true potential.The psychiatric nurse is a health professional who diagnoses and treats human responses to actual or potential mental health problems. The psychiatric nurse is expected to play all roles such as offering training, providing consultancy, serving as a therapist, acting as a leader, being an advocate, providing clinical care in all practices undertaken to protect and strengthen the mental health of all individuals with or without a mental disease and, in cases when the individuals are sick, to provide them with care and reintegrate them into the society. A high-quality psychiatric nurse is required to have strong problem-solving, communication, and autonomy skills. Therefore, to provide high-quality, relevant, and safe care services, psychiatric nursing students should be instilled with values, beliefs, and attitudes regarding the individuals, families, and society during education programs.
The studies indicate that high-quality nursing care results in a shorter stay at the hospital, a smaller number of complications, smaller costs, more satisfaction, development of skill in coping effectively with the problems, and so on. Just as in the world, the efforts to show the outcomes of effective and high-quality psychiatric care were initiated in Turkey as well. The development of psychiatric nursing depends on the quality of occupational education. It is acknowledged that, in Turkey, highly good-quality educational activities are performed at the undergraduate, master, and doctoral levels. Even if scientific and technological developments have positive implications on psychiatric nursing, it is also obvious that certain problems about the area remain to be solved. Solving the problems and constantly raising the quality will be possible once again with education.
I would like to pay my respects and express my gratitude to all our instructors and colleagues who passed on into eternal life and contributed to the current progress of our profession with their efforts and also to all authors who made contributions to this book.
