İlk defa Aralık 2019'da Çin'in Wuhan Eyaleti'nden başlayıp tüm dünyaya yayılan SARS-CoV-2 (Şiddetli Akut Solunum Yolu Sendromu Koronavirüsü 2) virüsünün oluşturduğu COVID-19 (Koronavirüs Hastalığı 2019), kısa sürede pandemiye dönüştü. Eylül 2020 itibariyle, dokuz aylık süreçte dünya genelinde 30 milyon olgu saptanmış olup bu olguların yaklaşık bir milyonu ölümle sonuçlanmıştır. Virüsün yüksek bulaşma ve mortalite oranları, birçok ülkede sokağa çıkma yasağı ilan edilmesine neden olmuştur. Bu durum toplumun pek çok kesimini psikolojik, sosyal ve ekonomik açıdan olumsuz yönde etkilemiştir. Mart 2020-Temmuz 2020 arasında sağlık hizmetleri COVID19 hastaları ön planda olacak şekilde yeniden düzenlenmiş, acil olgular ve tümör olguları dışındaki elektif ameliyatlar durdurulmuştur. Sağlık uygulamalarındaki bu değişiklik Plastik Rekonstrüktif ve Estetik Cerrahi alanında da benzer şekilde hareket edilmesine neden olmuştur.
Virüse ait sınırlı bilimsel verilere sahip olunması ve elde edilen her türlü bilginin hızlı bir şekilde yayına dönüştürülmesi ne yazık ki literatürde bilgi kirliliğine yol açmıştır. Bu kitap, Plastik Cerrahi alanındaki mevcut dezenformasyonu gidermek, pandemi sürecinde alınan önlemleri ve yapılan uygulamaları aktararak tarihe not düşmek amacıyla hazırlanmıştır. Kitap bünyesinde, Türk Plastik Rekonstrüktif ve Estetik Cerrahi Derneği'nin COVID-19 sürecine yaklaşımı; uzaktan eğitimin yapılandırılması; yeniden işe başlama organizasyonu; hastaların kategorizasyonu; onam formlarının yeniden düzenlenmesi; hastanelerde çalışma şartları; alınması gereken koruyucu önlemler; muayenehane şartlarının oluşturulması; özellikli olgulara yaklaşım; COVID-19 pandemisinin erken ve geç dönem etkileri; COVID-19 pozitif bir Plastik Cerrahın deneyimleri ve COVID-19 Sürecinde Plastik Rekonstrüktif ve Estetik Cerrahinin Avrupa'daki durumu gibi bilgiler yer almaktadır.

COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease 2019), which was caused by the SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2) virus, started in Wuhan Province of China in December 2019 and spread all over the world and turned into a pandemic in a short time. As of September 2020, in the nine-month period, 30 million cases had been detected worldwide of which approximately one million resulted in death. High transmission and mortality rates of the virus have caused curfews to be declared in many countries. This situation negatively affected many people's psychological, social, and economic status. Between March 2020 and July 2020, healthcare services were reorganized based on COVID-19 patients and elective surgeries other than emergency cases and tumor cases were stopped. This change in healthcare practices has led to a similar action in the field of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery.
Having limited scientific data on the virus and the rapid publication of any data, unfortunately, led to disinformation in the literature. This book has been prepared in order to eliminate the current disinformation in the field of Plastic Surgery and to write a note in history by emphasizing the precautions and actions taken during the pandemic process. The approach of the Turkish Society of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons to the COVID-19 process; structuring remote education; resumption organization; categorization of patients; rearrangement of consent forms; working conditions in hospitals; protective measures to be taken; establishing private office conditions; approach to specific cases; early and late effects of the COVID-19 pandemic; the experiences of a COVID-19 positive Plastic Surgeon; and the situation of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery in Europe during the COVID 19 Process are within the scope of this book.
Before the pandemic, many people who could not see the big picture due to the fast pace of life had the opportunity to self-evaluate during this pandemic process. Hoping to appreciate the positive and beautiful aspects of life by taking lessons from all the experienced negativities.
