Sinyatür teorisi ile ilgili olarak öğrencilerin 115'i (%68,45) bitki, 48'i (%28,57) mineral/nesne, 5'i (%2,9) hayvan ürünü örnek vermiştir.

ABSTRACT
Objective: The signature theory has been in traditional medical practice for centuries. It is used in humans because the characteristics of plants, animals, or minerals such as smell, color, and shape are similar to the body or disease characteristics. Our study aimed to determine the knowledge and opinions of health-related associate degree students about the signature theory which is a traditional medicine application. Material and Methods: This descriptive study was conducted on the mid-term assignments of 247 students who received their first-year education in the medical documentation and operating room services department of the vocational school of health services in the academic years of 2019-2020 and 2020-2021. The information about the signal theory in the students' homework was analyzed retrospectively. Responses were coded according to the signature theory literature. Results: In our study, 168 (68.01%) out of 247 students studying in the first year of vocational school of health services were reached. Among the students who answered about the signature theory, 136 (80.95%) gave an example of female, 115 (68.45%) plants, 48 (28.57%) mineral/objects, and 5 (2.9%) animal products. 78 (46.42%) of the participants stated that products were used for mental health, 41 (24.40%) for the protection of infants from jaundice, and 14 (8.33%) for increasing breast milk. When compared according to gender, it was determined that the materials used by women differed from those of men. Conclusion: As a result of our study, it can be argued that the students know the signature theory and are influenced by the practices of the society as traditional medicine.
