ABSTRACT
Chronic wounds have a negative effect on the physical, mental and social life of the individuals due to the long duration of treatment, lack of a full recovery and loss of functionality. Therefore, psychosocial problems should be addressed as well as physical problems experienced by individuals. The aim of this study is to review studies on determining psychosocial problems experienced by individuals with chronic wounds and to systematically examine the results of these studies. Systematic searches were conducted in 'PubMed', 'ClinicalKey', 'ScienceDirect' and 'Scopus' databates with using to 'chronic wound, psychosocial aspect, depression, anxiety, venous leg ulcer, diabetic foot ulcer, pressure injuries and body image' keywords and combinations. Twenty five studies were included in the systematic review. The sample size of the studies varies between 6-4,994. As a result of the data, it was determined that the most common psychosocial problems in individuals with chronic wounds are depression, anxiety, low quality of life, negative self-perception and social isolation. According to the results of this systematic review, individuals with chronic wounds experience a lot of psychosocial problems.
