ÖZET
Amaç: Bu araştırma, kemoterapi alan hastalarda oral mukozitin önlenmesi için hastaların uyguladıkları tamamlayıcı sağlık yöntemlerinin değerlendirilmesi amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Araştırmanın örneklemini, Ekim 2020 ile Aralık 2020 tarihleri arasında Necmettin Erbakan Üniversitesi Meram Tıp Fakültesi Onkoloji Hastanesi tıbbi onkoloji gündüz tedavi ünitesinde kemoterapi alan 100 hasta oluşturmuştur. Veriler, araştırmacılar tarafından hastaların sosyodemografik özellikleri, oral mukozitin önlenmesi ve tedavisi için kullandıkları tamamlayıcı sağlık yöntemlerini belirlemeye yönelik hazırlanan veri toplama formu kullanılarak toplandı. Bulgular: Hastaların yaş ortalaması 59,48±13,56'dır. Hastaların %72'sinin oral mukozit için tamamlayıcı bir tedavi kullandığı, %44'ünün klinik ağız bakımı protokolü hakkındaki düşüncesinin kısmen etkili olduğu saptandı. Hastalar, oral mukozitin önlenmesi amacıyla en fazla sırayla karbonat, elma sirkesi ve karadut kullanmıştır. Hastaların %40,3'ü, kullandıkları tamamlayıcı sağlık yönteminin oral mukoziti iyileştirdiğini ifade etmiştir. Hastaların %63,9'u ağız bakım protokolü ile birlikte tamamlayıcı sağlık yöntemi kullandığını, %91,8'i tamamlayıcı tedaviden olumsuz bir etki görmediğini, %61,1'i tedaviyi sağlık çalışanlarının tavsiye ettiğini, %72,2'si sağlık çalışanlarını, kullandıkları tamamlayıcı sağlık yöntemleri hakkında bilgilendirdiklerini ifade etmişlerdir. Sonuç: Bu araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre kemoterapi alan hastaların birçoğu, oral mukozitin önlenmesi ve tedavisi için tamamlayıcı sağlık yöntemlerini kullanmaktadır. Hastaların çok büyük bir bölümü, tamamlayıcı tedaviden fayda sağladığını ifade etmiştir. Hemşirelerin eğitim müfredatlarına, tamamlayıcı tedaviler hakkında dersler eklenmelidir. Oral mukozit için sıklıkla kullanılan bitkisel ürünlerin iyileştiriciliği ile ilgili deneysel çalışmalar yapılması önerilir.

ABSTRACT
Objective: This study was conducted descriptively to determine the complementary health methods used by patients for the prevention of oral mucositis in patients receiving chemotherapy. Material and Methods: The sample of the study consisted of 100 patients who received chemotherapy in the Necmettin Erbakan University Meram Medical Faculty Oncology Hospital medical oncology day treatment unit between October and December 2020. The data were collected by the data collection form prepared by researchers, to determine the sociodemographic characteristics of the patients and the complementary health methods used for the prevention and treatment of oral mucositis. Results: The average age of the patients was 59.48±13.56. It was found that 72% of the patients used a complementary treatment for oral mucositis, and the opinion of 44% of the clinical oral care protocol was partially effective. Patients used baking soda, apple vinegar and black mulberry, respectively. 40.3% of the patients stated that the complementary health method they use heals oral mucositis. 63.9% of them stated that they used a complementary health method together with the oral care protocol, 91.8% did not see any negative effects from the complementary treatment, 61.1% stated that the treatment was recommended by the health professionals, and 72.2% informed the health workers about the complementary health methods they used. Conclusion: According to the results of this study, most of the patients receiving chemotherapy use complementary health methods for the prevention and treatment of oral mucositis. The vast majority of patients benefited from complementary therapy. Courses on complementary therapies should be added to nurses' education curricula. It is recommended to conduct experimental studies on herbal products curativeness that are frequently used for oral mucositis.

1. TERMS OF USE

1.1. 2.4. CONTEXT: Any visual, literary and auditory images published in the "Turkiye Klinikleri", "SITE" and/or any website or any accessible information, file, picture, number/figures, price, etc.

2.5. "USER CONTRACT": An electronically signed contract between a natural or a legal identity benefiting from special services "Turkiye Klinikleri" will provide and "Turkiye Klinikleri".

- Providing scientific articles, books and informative publications for health industry.

- Providing structural, statistical and editorial support to article preparation stage for scientific journals.

4. GENERAL PROVISIONS

4.1. "Turkiye Klinikleri" is completely free to determine which of the services and contents provided in the "SITE" will be charged.

4.2. People benefiting from the services provided by "Turkiye Klinikleri" and using the website can use the "SITE" only according to the law and only for personal reasons. Users have the criminal and civil liability for every process and action they take in the "SITE". Every USER agrees, declares and undertakes that they will not proceed by any function or action infringement of rights of "Turkiye Klinikleri"s and/or other third parties', they are the exclusive right holder on usage, processing, storage, made public and revealing any written, visual or auditory information reported to Turkiye Klinikleri" and/or "SITE" to the third parties. Any changes and/or corrections that are required by "Turkiye Klinikleri", may be made by "Turkiye Klinikleri" when needed. Any harm, criminal and civil liability resulted or will result from changes and/or corrections required by "Turkiye Klinikleri" and were not made on time by the "USER"s belongs completely to the users.

4.8. "Turkiye Klinikleri" may give links through the "SITE" to other websites and/or "CONTEXT"s and/or folders that are outside of their control and owned and run by third parties. These links are provided for ease of reference only and do not hold qualification for support the respective web SITE or the admin or declaration or guarantee for the information inside. 4.9. "Turkiye Klinikleri" may use the information provided to them by the "USERS" through the "SITE" in line with the terms of the "PRIVACY POLICY" and "USER CONTRACT". 7. FORCE MAJEURE

Being late or failure of performance or non-defaulting of this and similar cases like this will not be the case from the viewpoint of "Turkiye Klinikleri", and "Turkiye Klinikleri" will not have any damage liability for these situations. "Force majeure" term will be regarded as outside of the concerned party's reasonable control and any situation that "Turkiye Klinikleri" cannot prevent even though it shows due diligence. Also, force majeure situations include but not limited to natural disasters, rebellion, war, strike, communication problems, infrastructure and internet failure, power cut and bad weather conditions.

8. LAW AND AUTHORISATION TO FOLLOW
