Amaç: Bu in vitro çalışmanın amacı, matriksmetalloproteinaz inhibitörü olan karbodimidin (1-etil-3-[3-dimetilaminopropil] carbodiimide) adeziv uygulaması öncesi dentin yüzey tedavisinde kullanıldığında universal adeziv sistemlerin dentine bağlanma dayanımı üzerine etkisinin mikrogerilim test yöntemiyle değerlendirilmesidir.

Objective: The aim of this in-vitro study is to evaluate the effect of universal adhesive systems on dentin bond strength by microtensile test method when carbodiimide (1-ethyl-3-[3-dimethylaminopropyl] carbodiimide), which is a matrix metalloproteinase inhibitor, is used in dentin surface treatment before adhesive application. Material and Methods: In this study, standard dentin surfaces were obtained from 80 human 3. molar teeth and randomly divided into 8 groups. Half of the groups were treated with 1M carbodimide before the adhesive application, while the other half did not. Then, Single Bond Universal and Clearfil Universal Bond were applied to all groups using either etch-and-rinse or self-etch modes. All samples were restored and polymerized with 4 mm thick 3M Filtek Bulk-Fill composite resin. After the samples were kept in distilled water for 24 hours, half of each group was stored in artificial saliva for 6 months. After taking 20 sections of 1 mm2 from each sample, microtensile bond strength test was performed. Three-way and one-way analysis of variance and post hoc Tukey test were used to analyze microtensile bond strength data. Results: According to the results of the study, while there was no statistically significant difference between the microtensile bond strength values of the tested early period groups (p>0.05), there were statistically significant differences between the microtensile bond strength values of the late period groups (p<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference between the early and late bond strength values of all groups (p>0.05). All of the groups in which Single Bond Universal was used showed significantly higher bond strength than the groups in which Clearfil Universal Bond was used (p<0.05). Conclusion: While there was no difference between the early and late bonding values of the groups in which carbodimide was used, an increase was observed in the bonding values of the groups in which Single Bond Universal was applied.
