Objective: The aim of this study is to examine some physiological and athletic performance losses in well trained female wrestlers during short-term lack of training. Material and Methods: Twenty well trained elite female wrestlers were participated in this study (age: 19.35±1.60 year, height: 160.60±6.20 cm, body weight: 58.75±8.81 kg). At the beginning of the 4th week of the taper period of athletes, first physiological and athletic performance test measurements were performed. After 4 weeks of detraining, the same test measurements were carried out again. The normality of the distribution of the data obtained as a result of the study was evaluated with the Shapiro-Wilk test and it was observed that the data were suitable for normal distribution. Whether the difference between the two measurements of the athletes was statistically significant was checked with the dependent sample t test. All statistical analyzes were made in SPSS package program. In the statistical analysis of the data obtained from the study, the level of significance was determined as p<0.05. Results: The result of the study reveals that there were significant changes in body weight (1.23%), body fat percentage (3.33%), vertical jump height (-2.17%), hand grip strength (-1.12%) and maximal oxygen consumption (-2.04%) after 4 weeks of detraining. Conclusion: It was found that in the short-term detraining process of well trained female wrestlers, the body composition changed rapidly and parameters related to athletic performance were negatively affected.
