Turkish Validity and Reliability of the Occupational Health Literacy Scale: A Methodological Study

ÖZET
 Amaç: Bu çalışma, Suthakorn ve ark.nın geliştirdiği 'İş Sağlığı Okuryazarlığı Ölçeği'nin (Occupational Health Literacy Among Thai Informal Workers) Türkçeye uyarlanması ve geçerlik ve güvenirliğinin değerlendirilmesi amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Metodolojik tipteki bu çalışmada, ölçeğin Türkçe versiyonu, organize sanayi bölgelerinde çalışan 400 kişiye uygulandı. Veriler bilgisayar ortamında SPSS (22.0) ve AMOS (24.0) programı kullanılarak analiz edildi. Kapsam geçerliliği, Davis tekniği kullanılarak ve Kapsam Geçerlilik İndeksleri belirlenerek değerlendirilmiştir. Ölçeğin Türkçe versiyonunun psikometrik ve güvenirlik analizleri yapıldı. Bulgular: Açımlayıcı faktör analizi sonuçlarına göre ölçeğin Türkçe formunun orijinalinde olduğu gibi 38 maddeden oluşan 4 faktörlü yapı gösterdiği ve maddelerin toplam varyansın %52,1'ini sağladığı tespit edildi. Doğrulayıcı faktör analizi sonucu ölçeğin uyum iyiliği değerleri χ²/sd=2,91, Yaklaşık Hataların Ortalama Karekökü=0,07, Karşılaştırmalı Uyum İndeksi=0,84, İyilik Uyum İndeksi=0,78 olarak hesaplandı. Ölçüt geçerliği değerlendirmesinde, ölçeğin İş Sağlığı ve Güvenliği Uygulamaları Performans Değerlendirme Ölçeği ile arasında anlamlı ilişki olduğu tespit edildi (r=0,40, p<0,001). Ölçeğin Cronbach alfa değerinin 0,93 ile yüksek bir güvenirliğe sahip olduğu belirlendi. Ölçeğin yakınsak/benzeşme geçerliği bakımından uygun ve ayırma/ıraksak geçerliğine de sahip olduğu belirlendi. Yapılan analizlerde ölçek maddelerinin, ölçmek istenen özelliği ayırt edici ve geçerli olduğu tespit edildi. Sonuç: İş Sağlığı Okuryazarlığı Ölçeği Türkçe versiyonu, çalışanların iş sağlığı okuryazarlığı düzeylerini belirlemek amacıyla geçerli ve güvenilir biçimde kullanılabilir.

ABSTRACT
 Objective: This study was carried out to adapt the Occupational Health Literacy Among Thai Informal Workers developed by Suthakorn et al. into Turkish and to evaluate its validity and reliability. Material and Methods: In this methodological study, the Turkish version of the scale was applied to 400 people working in organized industrial zones. Data were analyzed using SPSS (22.0) and AMOS (24.0) program in computer environment. Content validity was evaluated by using Davis technique and determining Content Validity Indices. Psychometric and reliability analyzes of the Turkish version of the scale were performed. Results: It was found that the scale showed a four-factor structure consisting of 38 items, as in the original, and the items provided 52.1% of the total variance. As a result of confirmatory factor analysis, the scale's goodness of fit values were calculated as χ²/df=2.91, Root Mean Square Error of Approximation=0.07, Comparative Fit Index=0.84, Goodness of Fit Index=0.78. In the criterion validity evaluation, it was determined that there was a significant relationship between the scale and the Occupational Health and Safety Practices Performance Evaluation Scale (r=0.40, p<0.001). The Cronbach alpha value of the scale was found to have a high reliability of 0.93. It was determined that the scale was suitable in terms of convergent validity and also had discriminant validity. In the analyzes made, it was determined that the scale items were distinctive and valid. Conclusion: The Turkish version of the Occupational Health Literacy Scale can be used in a valid and reliable way to determine the occupational health literacy levels of the employees.

4. GENERAL PROVISIONS

4.1. "Turkiye Klinikleri" is completely free to determine which of the services and contents provided in the "SITE" will be charged.

4.2. People benefiting from the services provided by "Turkiye Klinikleri" and using the website can use the "SITE" only according to the law and only for personal reasons. Users have the criminal and civil liability for every process and action they take in the "SITE". Being late or failure of performance or non-defaulting of this and similar cases like this will not be the case from the viewpoint of "Turkiye Klinikleri", and "Turkiye Klinikleri" will not have any damage liability for these situations. "Force majeure" term will be regarded as outside of the concerned party's reasonable control and any situation that "Turkiye Klinikleri" cannot prevent even though it shows due diligence. Also, force majeure situations include but not limited to natural disasters, rebellion, war, strike, communication problems, infrastructure and internet failure, power cut and bad weather conditions.

8. LAW AND AUTHORISATION TO FOLLOW

Turkish Law will be applied in practicing, interpreting the hereby "Terms of Use" and managing the emerging legal relationships within this "Terms of Use" in case of finding element of foreignness, except for the rules of Turkish conflict of laws. Ankara Courts and Enforcement Offices are entitled in any controversy happened or may happen due to hereby contract.

9. CLOSING AND AGREEMENT

Hereby "Terms of Use" come into force when announced in the "SITE" by "Turkiye Klinikleri". The users are regarded to agree to hereby contract terms by using the "SITE". "Turkiye Klinikleri" may change the contract terms and the changes will be come into force by specifying the version number and the date of change on time it is published in the "SITE".
