ABSTRACT
Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide found in the extracellular matrix of the epithelial, neural, and connective tissues of the vertebrates. Because of its high moisture retention, biocompatibility and viscoelastic properties, this polymer has become a major component of major pharmaceutical, biomedical and cosmetic products with high commercial value worldwide. Due to its antiinflammatory and anti-edematous properties today, it is frequently used in ophthalmology, dermatology, orthopedics and rheumatology fields and has also recently been used in dentistry.

Keywords: Hyaluronic acid; biological products; glycosaminoglycans
