Geleceğin hemşireleri olma yönünde ilerleyen hemşirelik öğrencilerinin, hemşirelik eğitiminin ilk yıllarından itibaren her seviyede ruh sağlığına yönelik verilecek eğitim çalışmalarının planlanması ve uygulanması önerilmektedir.

ABSTRACT
Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the correlation between nursing students' depression literacy and their knowledge about suicide. Material and Methods: This descriptive and correlation study was conducted with nursing students of a state university in Kilis. The sample of the study consisted of 341 nursing students who agreed to participate in the study. The data of the study were collected using the ''personal information form'', ''Depression Literacy Scale'', and ''Suicide Knowledge Level Scale''. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 22. In the analysis of the data, numbers, arithmetic mean, percentile distributions, standard deviation, Pearson correlation analysis were used. Results: The total mean score of the Depression Literacy Scale of the nursing students were 12.35±3.90. A significant difference was found between the class and mother education level of nursing students and depression literacy (p<0.05). The total mean score of the nursing students' Suicide Knowledge Level Scale were 14.78±5.24. A significant difference was found between the class and father education level of nursing students and their knowledge about suicide (p<0.05). A moderately positive and significant relationship was found between the depression literacy of nursing students and their level of knowledge about suicide (r=0.586, p<0.001). Conclusion: In this study, it was found that nursing students' depression literacy and knowledge about suicide were moderate. It was determined that there was a moderately significant correlation between the depression literacy of nursing students and their level of knowledge about suicide. As depression literacy increases, the level of knowledge about suicide also increases. It is recommended that nursing students, who are progressing towards becoming the nurses of the future, should plan and implement educational studies on mental health at all levels, starting from their early years of nursing education.
