Objective: With the arrangements made in our country, the use of traditional and complementary medicine methods has become very popular and traditional and complementary medicine centers have been established in many hospitals. Hypnotherapy; It is one of the traditional and complementary medicine methods. This study was onducted to evaluate some ideas of doctors about hypnotherapy. Material and Methods: This research was made in the Employee Health Clinic of University of Health Sciences Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital on the dates between 1 May 2019-30 June 2019. Volunteers filled the questionnaires an information form developed by researchers who questioned the sociodemographic characteristics and their opinion about hypnosis were investigated. The study was conducted in accordance with the Helsinki Declaration Principles. The data was analyzed by using SPSS 19.0 software programme. Level of significance was taken as p<0.05. Results: Of the 230 physicians, 104 (45.2%) were women. According to their professional titles; 118 (51.3%) was resident physicians and 90 (39.1%) was specialists and 22 (9.6%) was general practitioners. 94 doctors (40.9%) were knowledgeable about hypnotherapy. As age and professional years increased, having knowledge about this topic was decreasing (p<0.05). 184 participants (80%) stated that hypnotherapy is effective in smoking cessation treatment, 100 participants (43.5%) stated that it was an aid to the treatment and 44 participants (42.3%) stated that they do not allow hypnotherapy on themselves because they are afraid of the results. There was a significant relationship between gender and application allowance (p=0.017). Women were more positive about hypnotherapy practice. It was seen that physicians' branch, title and professional working time had no effect on allowing hypnotherapy practice (p≥0.05). Conclusion: Less than half of the doctors stated that they knew about hypnotherapy, but more than half stated that they could allow hypnotherapy to be applied for them. Their awareness can be increased by organizing in-service and outof- service seminars and trainings about hypnotherapy. In this way, physicians awareness of using/applying hypnotherapy can be provided.
