Günümüzde geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tıp (GTT) tedavilerine, multidisipliner tedavi programlarında gereksinim duyulmaktadır. Toplumun, GTT uygulamalarına yönelik ilgisindeki artışa paralel olarak, GTT tedavileri içinde yer alan yogaya da ilgi artmaktadır. Yoga, iyileştirici etkisiyle hastalara, sağlığı koruyucu ve geliştirici yönüyle sağlıklı bireylere uygulanabilmesiyle toplumda, her yaştaki bireye önerilmektedir. Bedenin ve ruhun birleşmesini hedefleyen yoga; konsantrasyon, gevşeme, solunum ve fiziksel egzersizlerin bir arada kullanıldığı kapsamlı bir programdır. Yoganın; ağrı ve stres yönetimi, kadın sağlığı, bağımlılık, obezite, kardiyolojik ve ruhsal sorunlar, immün sistem hastalıkları, kronik hastalık yönetimi üzerine etkileri kanıt düzeyinde literatürde yer almaktadır. Sağlık ekibi içinde hasta ile aralıksız etkileşim içinde olan hemşireler yogayı hem kendileri uygulayabilir hem de hastalarına tavsiye edebilir durumdadır. Bu nedenlerden dolayı bu derlemede, yoganın faydalarına, yapılan bilimsel çalışmalara, hemşirelik hizmetleri içinde yeri ve önemine vurgu yapmak amaçlanmıştır.

Today, traditional and complementary medicine therapies (TCM) are needed in multidisciplinary treatment programs. In parallel with the increase in the interest for TCM in the society, the interest in yoga which is included in TCM, is also increasing. Yoga is recommended for all ages in the society as it can be applied healthy people with protective and developmental aspects and to treat people with disease. Aiming to unite the body and the soul, yoga is a comprehensive program uses concentration, relaxation, breathing and physical exercises together. The effects of yoga on pain management, stress management, women's health, addiction, obesity, cardiological problems, mental problems, immune system diseases, chronic disease management are included in the literature. Nurses who are in continuous interaction with the patient within the healthcare team can both practice yoga and recommend it to their patients. For this reason, this review aims to emphasize the benefits of yoga, its scientific studies, its place and importance in nursing services.
