Objective: The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the shear bond strength (SBS) of a self-adhering flowable composite resin (Constic, DMG) compared with a highly filled flowable composite (G-ænial Universal Flo, GC) used with a universal adhesive (G-Premio Bond, GC) in two different application modes. Material and Methods: Fourty enamel specimens were prepared and then divided into four groups (n=10): 1) Constic (CS); 2) Phosphoric acid+Constic (F-CS); 3) G-Premio Bond in self-etch mode+G-ænial Universal Flo (PS-GUF); 4) G-Premio Bond in etch&rinse mode+G-ænial Universal Flo (PE-GUF). A Teflon tube was placed perpendicular to the flattened enamel surfaces and either the self-adhering composite resin or the highly filled flowable composite resin were placed according to the instructions of the manufacturers. Specimens were subjected to SBS test with a universal testing machine (LR50K, Lloyd Instruments), Data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA followed by TUKEY HSD test (p<0.05). Results: PS-GUF (13.7 MPa), exhibited higher SBS values than CS (7.4 MPa). F-CS (8.6 MPa) showed lower SBS values than PEGUF (26.2 MPa) (p<0.001). No significant differences were seen between CS and F-CS groups (p=0.77). However, PE-GUF exhibited higher SBS values than PS-GUF (p<0.001). PE-GUF showed the highest SBS value (26.2 MPa). Conclusion: The self-adhering flowable resin composite presented lower bond strength than the highly-filled flowable resin composite used with a universal adhesive on enamel. The bonding performance of highly-filled flowable resin composite used with the universal adhesive to enamel was found to be higher in etch&rinse mode application than the selfetch mode.
