Objective: This study compared the color change and optical properties of bioactive restorative material (ACTIVA) set at the different thicknesses with anterior and posterior composite resins after polymerization, and aging in artificial saliva. Material and Methods: The samples of ACTIVA (AC), and G-aenial anterior (GCa) and G-aenial Posterior (GCp) composite resins were prepared in 6 groups (n=10) with a diameter of 10 mm and thicknesses of 1- and 2-mm. The color parameters of the groups were measured with a spectrophotometer. The color change and translucency parameter (TP) after polymerization, and aging in artificial saliva were found using the CIEDE2000 formula. In addition, the contrast ratio (CR) was calculated. The data were analyzed with one-way ANOVA and post-hoc Tukey tests (α=0.05). Results: The color of all groups changed significantly after polymerization (p<0.001). Except the GCp group, the other groups showed color change below the acceptability threshold (1.8) after 7 and 14 days of aging for both material thicknesses. Material thickness significantly affected the color change of AC and GCp groups (p<0.05). Among the groups with 1 mm thickness, the lowest TP value was observed in the AC and the highest GCp groups for all measurement times (p<0.05). The CR values for the thickness 1 mm groups were completely inversely proportional to the TP values. Conclusion: The material thickness is important in the color change of AC after aging. After polymerization and aging, AC showed more color change than GCa but more stable than GCp. However, AC has lower TP and higher CR values than composite groups.
