Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the root canal cleaning effectiveness and apical extrusion of debris after retreatment procedures by using Aurum Blue (AB), Aurum Pro (AP), Endoart (EA) and WaveOne Gold (WOG) systems. Material and Methods: Thirty extracted single-rooted teeth were instrumented with ProTaper Next X3 file and filled with gutta percha and root canal sealer. For the retreatment process teeth were divided into 4 groups equally (n=15): AB (F3), AP (35/0.4), WOG (35), EA (F3) system instruments. Apically extruded debris was collected into preweighed Eppendorf tubes by using the Myers and Montgomery method. The roots were split into 2 halves longitudinally and canal surfaces were examined using a ×16 stereomicroscope. Data were statistically analyzed with one way analysis of variance, KruskalWallis and Mann-Whitney U tests (p<0.05). Results: All file systems caused debris extrusion throughout the apices and did not completely remove gutta percha from root canals. WOG system caused statistically more debris extrusion from the apical (p=0.001), and removed statistically more gutta percha than AB and AP root canal files (p=0.009). Conclusion: While it was observed that WOG file system provided superior root canal cleaning than the AB and AP file systems after retreatment, it caused more debris extrusion from the apical than other file systems.
