Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the coffee staining and in-office bleaching responses of different anterior composites restored to teeth in vitro. Material and Methods: In this study, different colors of anterior composite (G-ænial anterior, GA), oneshade composite (Omnichroma, OC) and enamel-dentin-colored composite (Clearfil Majesty Es-2, CE) were used. After determining the initial colors of 36 caries-free maxillary anterior extracted teeth, the class V cavities were restored with 3 different composites. Afterwards, the color change was evaluated by 30-day distilled water and coffee staining. After 40% hydrogen peroxide office bleaching agent was applied to both tooth and composite surfaces, the response to bleaching was assessed. A spectrophotometer was used to measure the color values and the ΔE00 value was calculated using the CIEDE2000 formula. All statistical analyses were performed using IBM SPSS Statistics 25.0 at α=0.05 significance level. Results: When the discoloration data were examined, the ΔE00 value of the OC and CE groups was higher than the GA group in the composite surface measurements of the samples kept in distilled water (p<0.05). After colored with distilled water and coffee, the highest discoloration among all groups was seen on the CE composite surfaces kept in coffee. After bleaching, the highest discoloration among all groups was observed in the OC composite surfaces kept in coffee. Conclusion: Of the anterior composite restorations tested in this study, all showed discoloration above the clinically acceptable threshold except for the samples of the GA group kept in distilled water. Bleaching after coloration with coffee produced a significant color change on the tooth and composite surfaces.
