Amaç: At yarışları ağırlık kategorisi sporları arasında yer almaktadır.

Objective: Horse racing is among the weight category sports. For this reason, it can be an advantage for the riders to be light and short. Female and male riders need to be careful about weight gain in order to participate in the races. The aim of this study is to investigate the anthropometric characteristics of apprentice jockeys such as body weight and height, and the relationship between body image and eating behaviors. Material and Methods: Twenty four male adolescent apprentice jockeys with a mean age of 15.62±1.01 participated in the study. Within the scope of the research, the athletes' height (cm), body weight (kg) and body mass index (kg/m2 ) measurements were made and they were provided to fill in the Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire and Body Image Scale. Results: As a result of the study, two groups, ≥16 years and <16 years, were evaluated and it was determined that the mean of body weight (p=0.001) and height (p=0.001) measurements were significantly higher in the ≥16 age group. The restrictive eating behavior score was found to be higher in the ≥16 age group with a higher mean weight and height than the other group (p=0.024). It was determined that there was a negative relationship with the physical strength and muscle strength questions from the restrictive eating behavior and the Body Image Scale questions, a positive relationship with the weight question, and a positive relationship between the weight and height measurements and the restrictive eating behavior (p<0.05). Conclusion: As a result of the research, it was determined that the change in body image in adolescent apprentice jockeys was effective on the eating status, especially with the increase in body weight and height, and the risk of restrictive eating behavior increased.
