Objective: Although adolescence is considered a healthy developmental period for individuals, the vast majority of mental illness problems diagnosed in adulthood occur during this period. Self-compassion is a psychological resource that helps individuals manage their stress and distress. At the same time, self-compassion contributes to the psychological resilience of adolescents. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the levels of self-compassion and positive mental health in adolescents and the influencing factors. Material and Methods: This descriptive and correlational study was conducted with 335 students enrolled in an Anatolian high school in the province of Konya. The research data were collected between May and June 2023. Ethics committee approval was obtained from the Selçuk University Faculty of Nursing Non-Interventional Clinical Research Ethics Committee. Personal Information Form, Self-Compassion Scale Short Form and Positive Mental Health Scale were used in data collection. Results: The students' total score on the Self-Compassion Scale Short Form was found to be 31.88±7.58, and the total score on the Positive Mental Health Scale was found to be 111.89±15.88. In the study, the mean score on the Self-Compassion Scale of the students who were female, had an extended family structure, had democratic parents, and participated in social activities was found to be high and significant (p<0.05). The mean score on the Positive Mental Health Scale of the students who had a nuclear family structure, perceived their health well, had a high income level, loved their school, and participated in social activities was found to be high and significant (p<0.05). Conclusion: As a result, it was determined that there is a very high positive relationship between selfcompassion and positive mental health. In line with these results, it is recommended to investigate the components of positive mental health and self-compassion from early adolescence to young adulthood.
