ÖZET
Emzirme dönemi, hem anne hem de bebek için oldukça önemli bir dönemdir. Annenin kullandığı her madde, tükettiği her besin ve aldığı her ilaç anne sütü üzerinde farklı etkiler gösterebilmektedir. Bu maddelerin bir kısmı anne sütünün miktarında, bir kısmı bileşiminde, bir kısmı ise tadında değişime neden olmaktadır. Annenin aldığı bazı zararlı maddeler anne sütüne geçerek bebekte olumsuz etkilerin ortaya çıkmasına neden olabilmektedir. Emziren annenin alkol ve sigara kullanımının süt yapımını azalttığı, sütün tadında değişikliklere neden olabildiği ve dolayısıyla emmenin bırakılmasına yol açabildiği gösterilmiştir. Emziren annenin özellikle alkol, sigara, uyuşturucu ve bağımlılık yapıcı maddelerden uzak durması hem kendi sağlığı hem de bebeğinin sağlığı için oldukça önem taşımaktadır. Emzirme sırasında kullanılan her ilacın anne sütüne geçebileceği ve bebek üzerinde olumsuz etkiler oluşturabileceği unutulmamalıdır. Bu nedenle emziren anneler, doktora danışmadan herhangi bir ilaç kullanmamalıdır. Emziren anneler kahve ve çay tüketirken kendilerini sınırlayabilmeli, bu maddelerin aşırı tüketimlerinin bebeklerinde huzursuzluk ve uykusuzluk gibi etkiler yapabileceğini bilmelidir. Sonuç olarak, emziren annenin tükettiği her besin, kullandığı her madde ve aldığı her ilaç anne sütü içeriğinde ve miktarında değişikliklere neden olabilmektedir. Bebeklerin yaşamlarını sağlıklı sürdürebilmeleri için emziren annenin anne sütünden bebeğe geçebilecek maddeler konusunda dikkatli olması ve çocuk sağlığı izlem vizitlerinde annelere bu konuda bilgi verilmesi gereklidir.

ABSTRACT
Breastfeeding is a very important period for both mother and baby. Every substance used by mother, every food she consumes and every medicine she takes can have different effects on breast milk. Some of these substances cause changes in the amount of breast milk, some in its composition and some in taste. Some harmful substances taken by mother pass into breast milk and cause adverse effects in the baby. Alcohol and smoking behaviour of the breastfeeding mother have been shown to reduce milk production, cause changes in milk taste, and thus lead to cessation of suction. It is very important for the breastfeeding mother to avoid both alcohol, cigarette, drugs and addictive substances. It should be remembered that every drug used during breastfeeding can pass into breast milk and have negative effects on the baby. Therefore, breastfeeding mothers should not use any medication without consulting a doctor. Breastfeeding mothers should be able to limit themselves while consuming coffee and tea, and should know that excessive consumption of these substances may have effects such as restlessness and insomnia in their babies. As a result, every nutrient consumed by the breastfeeding mother, every substance used, and every drug taken can cause changes in the content and amount of breast milk. In order for babies to continue their lives in a healthy way, the breastfeeding mother should be careful about the substances that can pass from breast milk to the baby, and the mothers should be informed about this issue during child health follow-up visits.
