ABSTRACT
Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the correlation between supportive care and factors affecting perceived by postpartum women in labor and traumatic childbirth perception. Material and Methods: The study was completed with 454 postpartum women who met the inclusion criteria in Gaziantep Cengiz Gökçek Maternity and Children's Diseases Hospital and Şehitkâmil Public Hospital between August 2019 and September 2020. The data of the study were collected using the Introductory Information Form, 'Scale of Woman's Perception of Supportive Care Given to Woman in Labor (SWPSCGWL)' and 'Scale of Traumatic Childbirth Perception (STCP)'. Descriptive statistics, Pearson's Correlation, one-way analysis of variance, t-test, Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis test were used to evaluate the data. Result: It was determined that the mean score of SWPSCGWL comforting behaviors subscale was 46.74±8.40, the mean score of informative behaviors subscale was 26.58±2.70, the mean score of disturbing behaviors subscale was 37.57±3.07 and the total mean score was 110.90±12.22. The mean score of STCP was 61.77±22.32. It was determined that there was a positive significant correlation between the postpartum women's SWPSCGWL disturbing behaviors subscale and total mean scores and their STCP mean scores (p<0.05). Conclusion: It was determined that the perception of traumatic birth increased as the perception of disturbing behavior of the postpartum women increased, and the perception of traumatic birth increased as the supportive care at birth decreased.
