ABSTRACT
Objective: This study was conducted to determine the relationship between mothers' obsessive and compulsive behaviors related to baby care and health literacy in the postpartum period. Material and Methods: The research was planned as descriptive-correlational study. The study was conducted with 218 women. The data of the study were collected with the personal information form, the e-Health Literacy Scale and the Mothers' Obsessive and Compulsive Behaviors Regarding Baby Care in the Postpartum Period between November 2020 and July 2021. Data were evaluated using descriptive and correlational statistics. Results: It was determined that 45.9% of the women were between the ages of 26-35 and 37.2% were primary school graduates. It was determined that 96.3% of the women did not have a chronic disease, 51.4% had a vaginal last delivery, and 63.8% breastfed their baby within the first hour. Women got 23.25±8.290 points from the e-Health Literacy Scale. It was determined that the mothers got 27.42±8.935 points from the Obsessive and Compulsive Behaviors of Infant Care Scale in the Postpartum Period. No statistically significant correlation was found between the mothers' e-Health Literacy Scale and the Obsessive and Compulsive Behaviors of the Postpartum Period Obsessive and Compulsive Behaviors Scale mean scores. Conclusion: The women in this study were found to have moderate obsessive and compulsive behaviors related to health literacy and infant care. In order to increase the level of health literacy of women and to reduce their obsessive and compulsive behaviors related to baby care, health care professionals should provide training and necessary guidance.
